“Journeys North: The Pacific Crest Trail” Book Talk with author Barney Scout Mann

December 5, 2023 @ 7:00 pm

Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 7-8pm with book sales/signing of Journeys North afterward.

Join lifelong backpacker, legendary trail angel, and author Barney Scout Mann as he spins tales from his book Journeys North: The Pacific Crest Trail. Journeys North is a compelling and inspiring tale of the grit and perseverance needed to take on the PCT- especially during the once-in-a-generation drought and severe winter storms of 2007- and the strength and value of the relationships that form on trail. Mann weaves together the stories of six hikers; a mash-up of Wild meets The Breakfast Club.

Journeys North was a 2020 Banff Mountain Book Competition Finalist and was featured on NPR’s “Living on Earth.” Mann has been mentioned in the New York Times and called “arguably the Dean of America’s Long-Distance Trails” by National Geographic. He remains incredibly active in the thru-hiking community by hosting thousands of PCT hikers at his San Diego home. He has served as president of the Partnership of the National Trails System, president of the Continental Divide Trail Coalition, and Board Chair of the Pacific Crest Trail Association.

Suggested donation of $10 with all proceeds going to the Continental Divide Trail Coalition.
