Drawing inspiration from decades of experience in jazz, classical, and world music traditions, the Nalanda Ensemble specializes in spontaneous composition, an intensely focused approach to improvisation, celebrating musical community in an exploration of the unknown. In addition to a high level of musical proficiency, group improvisation at this level brings into play commitment to the moment, trust, empathy, intuition, and an openness to the unexpected. These themes translate beautifully into other aspects of human relationships.
