The “Technological Singularity” describes an explosion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that surpasses human capacity at an exponential rate. Award-winning choreographer Katie Elliott co-directs this evening with critically acclaimed composer Paul Fowler, exploring the positive and negative effects of AI on human civilization.
This work speaks to futurist threads in current cultural and artistic practice. Some theorists (Ray Kurzweil, e.g.) think the next 50 years may yield radical technological advances, possibly a technological singularity, which may fundamentally change the nature of human beings. Through radical new movement phrasing, unorthodox choreographic techniques and aggressive, fast-paced use of space, the company will cast those ideas into movement.
