Alphonse firmly believes that his devotion to the arts is a direct result of the New Orleans Public School’s commitment to the arts, especially for someone like himself from a working-class family. He devoted himself to the theatrical arts after performing at his first university, historically black college Southern University. Relocating to Boulder in 1974 to pursue and complete his doctorate degree, he dedicated his art to Boulder’s outstanding theater companies, including the original Nomads Theater, the Upstart Crow, the University of Colorado Main Theater, the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. The nurturing Boulder theater community led him to the Denver Center Theater Company, where he earned his coveted Actors Equity Association and Screen Actors Guild credentials. Alphonse is currently a voiceover actor with Boulder-based communication companies and has narrated over 100 educational DVDs. He has served as the Boulder County Arts Alliance chair and several other theater Boards of Directors.
