The Boedecker Theater is proud to present this film series with introductions and discussions led by Dr. Suranjan Ganguly. The road movie as a genre is widely defined as movies in which the main characters embark on a trip. It can be forced or voluntary, accidental or intentional, to obtain something, chase a dream or another person, or simply to travel, but the trip is always transformative in some way. These are some of the great road films from around the world, and this series will offer us insights and perspectives on these international classics.
CU Professor Emeritus Suranjan Ganguly of the Cinema Studies dept. teaches a wide range of international film courses. Former chair of the dept. and director
of the Stan Brakhage Center for Media Arts, he is the founder and curator of the monthly Brakhage Film Series, Celebrating Stan.
