Make art and connect with others while learning to carve soft linoleum blocks, using an image or symbol of your choice or drawing inspiration from the world around you. You’ll be guided through the process of carving, inking, and creating a series of quality linoleum block prints. Instruction will focus on a playful and experimental approach to art-making, encouraging you to engage with the materials, embrace ‘happy accidents,’ and celebrate whimsical outcomes.
We’ll ink and print the blocks onto paper and tote bags. Participants will produce multiple prints and are encouraged to collaborate during the printing process, adding layers and elements from each other’s blocks.
Expect to leave the workshop with a collection of collaborative and inspiring prints, as well as two unique DIY tote bags. You’re also welcome to bring 1-3 fabric items to print on. Please note that this workshop is designed for fun, not production, and due to the use of water-based ink, printed items will not be washable.
All skill levels are welcome, and no prior art experience is necessary. Wear your favorite art-making clothes, or bring an apron to wear.
