Polyglot brings together artists from around the world working across textile, ceramic, and painting. Each artist works within a distinct material practice, shaped by where they live, how they work, and what they choose to focus on.
When you travel, visiting a museum often becomes a way of understanding a place. Art captures atmosphere, history, and everyday life in a way words often cannot. Polyglot is rooted in that experience, aiming to bring those moments of discovery closer to home.
Presented as a focused group exhibition, Polyglot brings together different materials, cultures, and approaches to making. Each practice is presented on its own terms, creating a dialogue between artists who may never share the same language, but whose work communicates through material and form.
Curated by Verbunt Galerie.
Verbunt Galerie was founded in 2025 by Mikayla Verbunt after relocating from Australia to the United States in 2023. Driven by a passion for global talent and cultural exchange, Mikayla recognized the challenge of finding accessible, high-quality artwork online. At the same time, traditional galleries often felt intimidating and exclusive. Inspired by this, she created a refined, gallery-quality destination that connects discerning collectors with outstanding artists worldwide. The goal is to make distinctive, globally represented art feel inviting and attainable in everyday spaces.
The gallery name honors Mikayla’s Dutch heritage, particularly her Oma, who loved to create and effortlessly wove her global experiences into the fabric of her Australian home. Mikayla’s time living in Japan and Spain, along with her Fine Arts education, deeply shaped her vision of connecting art and culture across borders. Through Verbunt Galerie, she brings that same spirit to life, celebrating artists with unique voices and offering collectors thoughtfully curated works that resonate across time and place.
