Watch movies. Talk about movies. Help shape what comes next.

The Cinema Youth Advisory Board is a group of young movie lovers who help shape the Dairy Arts Center’s cinema program for their generation.
We meet regularly to watch and talk about movies, choose films for our monthly Movie Mondays, share our opinions on upcoming films, and dream up special events and experiences for young audiences. There’s no one way to be part of the group — we’re looking for people who are curious about movies and excited to help build a community around them.

🍿 Movie Mondays

A free movie night chosen by the Youth Advisory Board.

On the first Monday of most months, the Youth Advisory Board meets at the Dairy — and then we watch a movie!
Each Movie Monday features a film selected by the Advisory Board, followed by a conversation about what we just watched. Movie Mondays are free and open to anyone ages 14–24 who signs up for our Movie Monday email list. You don’t have to be on the Advisory Board to come. Bring a friend, come see what we’re about, and stay for the discussion. Movie titles and details will be announced by email as they’re selected by the Youth Advisory Board.

🎬 Want to Help Choose the Movies?

That’s where the Cinema Youth Advisory Board comes in.

Advisory Board members meet before each Movie Monday to:
• 🎞️ Choose the films we’ll screen
• 💬 Talk about movies and what matters to young audiences
• 🔎 Give feedback on upcoming films the Dairy is considering
• 💡 Develop special screenings, events, and other ideas
• 📣 Help us think about how to reach other young movie lovers
• 🤝 Build a community around cinema at the Dairy

We’re intentionally keeping the group flexible. Some months might be focused on choosing a movie; other months might involve planning a special event, talking about an upcoming film, or simply figuring out what we want to do next.

Interested in joining?
We’re always interested in meeting more young people who love movies and want to have a voice in what happens at the Dairy.
The Advisory Board is a little more of a commitment than simply attending Movie Mondays. Members are expected to make a good-faith effort to attend our monthly meetings and participate in the group between meetings when they can.

You don’t need to be a film expert, and you don’t need to have experience in programming or event planning. You just need to be interested, curious, and willing to participate.

We’ll use this form to learn a little about you, what you’re interested in, and whether the Advisory Board is a good fit. New members are welcome throughout the year.

🎟️ What Else Might We Do?

The Advisory Board helps determine what we do next.

That might mean:
• A special movie night built around a theme we’re excited about
• A youth-focused How to Watch a Movie class
• An educational event paired with a film
• A conversation with a filmmaker or other film professional
• Helping the Dairy decide which upcoming movies might connect with younger audiences
• Or something we haven’t thought of yet!
There’s no required monthly event or set list of projects. The goal is to create things that we’re actually excited about.

You might be a good fit for the Cinema Youth Advisory Board if you:
• Love movies — whether you’re a total cinephile or just really love going to the movies
• Have opinions about what young people should be seeing at the Dairy
• Want to meet other people who are into film
• Like discussing, discovering, recommending, or arguing about movies
• Want a chance to influence what happens at a real cinema
• Are willing to show up and participate
No film degree required. No expertise required. Just bring your curiosity.
