Please join us for a special screening of Teresita’s Dream, followed by a live Q&A with Dr. William Blanchet. The evening will focus on a promising new treatment for Alzheimer’s disease called NeuroEPO, which was developed by Cuba’s public biotech sector. More than 55 million people live with Alzheimer’s — but access, visibility, and support for NeuroEPO are blocked by U.S. sanctions and outdated Cold War policies.
Teresita’s Dream follows the extraordinary story of Cuban scientist Teresita Rodríguez. When her mother is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Teresita embarks on a deeply personal and politically complex journey to find a treatment – joined by a team of mostly women scientists. What begins as an effort to help her mother leads to a discovery that could change how the world treats this devastating disease forever.
Set in the heart of Havana against the backdrop of Cuba’s world-class biotech sector and the relentless challenges posed by the U.S. embargo, this film is a powerful story of scientific innovation, love, hope, and resilience.
Dr. Blanchet is a Boulder-based physician whose open-minded approach to medicine led him on an unlikely journey from Colorado to Cuba.
