September 8 @ 5:30 pm
FreeOur Demand (Senda India 2024), by Argentine director Daniela Seggiaro, tells the story of the Wichí people’s struggle for land rights against the state and the usurpation of their territory by a private company. Poetic, humorous, and inspiring, the film weaves together contemporary storytelling with a selection of more than 30 hours of footage filmed by members of the community themselves, who documented their collective resistance to land dispossession and their fight to protect the forest.
Urgent, moving, and visually striking, the film is both a testament to collective action and a celebration of the power of cinema as a tool for memory, justice, and hope.
Daniela Seggiaro was born in Salta, Argentina. She is a writer and director, known for Husek (2021), Nosilatiaj. La belleza (2012) and Senda india (2024).
