Apr 23-27

In a world where technology disguises misinformation and propaganda as news, it’s difficult to know what information to trust. Many Americans have been driven away from the news they need to participate in our democracy. Trusted Sources is a new documentary film that shows how we got here, how to find trustworthy news, and how to protect good journalism. Ultimately, finding and protecting good journalism requires some effort from news consumers; this shows how we can identify news organizations that earn our trust by adhering to standards that we expect of them, how to spot misinformation and stop it from spreading, and what we can do to protect and support our local news outlets. (Don Colacino, 2024, USA, 1:06, NR)

There will be a panel discussion after the screening on April 23 with the filmmaker, Don Colacino, and these journalism experts:
Vanessa Otero, who appers in the film, is the original creator of the Media Bias Chart and the founder and CEO of Ad Fontes Media.  She created the organization to help people navigate the complex media landscape, and for comprehensive content analysis of media sources themselves.

Dana Coffield is Editor and Co-Founder of The Colorado Sun, a Colorado non-profit news outlet featured in the film.  Dana is a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and was senior editor for News at The Denver Post before launching The Sun.  Her reporting and editing career also spans The Associated Press, Rocky Mountain News, and the Louisville Times.
