Join us in celebrating the incredible artworks of Albert Foote Sr, MATO SAPA  “Black Bear”, a respected artist, storyteller, and tipi educator. Alongside Foote Sr are a variety of beautiful prints and artworks by artist and caricaturist Darrell Spotted Horse.

About Albert Foote Sr

Albert Foote Sr is a dedicated Dakota/Cheyenne artist and cultural advocate. In addition to his artistic pursuits, Albert has devoted much of his life to serving as a counselor, specializing in cultural preservation and suicide prevention. With an emphasis on the spiritual and cultural aspects of healing, he offers guidance that is grounded in Dakota/Cheyenne teachings, helping individuals reconnect with their heritage while navigating personal struggles.

Albert combines a deep-rooted passion for Indigenous art with a powerful commitment to mental health and well-being in the community. As a fine artist, Albert creates works that draw from the rich cultural traditions of the Dakota and Cheyenne people, weaving together stories of resilience, spirituality, and community. His artistic practice serves as both a personal and collective expression of healing and honoring ancestral wisdom while addressing contemporary challenges.

About Darrell Spotted Horse

Darrell Spotted Horse is a Hunkpapa, Lakota artist from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

He has traveled throughout the Western States, informally selling his prints, caricatures, and renowned wood burnings. He gained a reputation and following in Minneapolis, MN, Denver, CO, Oakland, CA, Los Angeles, Portland, OR, Seattle, and Bellingham, WA. Several of his large wood burnings are on display at Tribal offices in Lummi and other WA Tribal locations.

He is a well-known caricaturist known for his humorous slant on Native life.
