Set in Jim Crow South, this is nuanced social commentary through horror, leveraging rich cultural heritage through music and dance. Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back. Themes of colonialism, class and cultural appropriation are woven naturally into the script creating a cultural artifact that elevates the vampire movie to new heights.
