The Dairy Arts Center proudly welcomes Laura Brenton back to the Locals Only Gallery with her latest exhibition, Full Circle. This collection of works beautifully captures Laura’s evolution from a dancer to an abstract painter, exploring the dynamic interplay between movement and visual art.
Laura’s journey as a visual artist began with landscape painting before evolving into a fluid, expressive abstract style. This artistic transformation mirrors her shift from the precision of ballet to the free-form nature of modern dance. As a founding member of The Space for Dance—now the Gordon Gamm Theater—Laura’s deep connection to movement continues to influence her painting process.
In her words, Laura describes her art as a dance: “Day-to-day life slips away as I scribble, painting with my fingers, and dancing the paint around with brushes and palette knives—always following the movement.” Through this rhythmic approach, she explores themes of beauty, mystery, and connection. Full Circle is a celebration of Laura’s personal and artistic journey. It invites visitors to reflect on their own paths of transformation and creativity, experiencing the fluidity of life and art through Laura’s unique perspective.
