DESCRIPTION:SUBSCRIBE\n TICKETS\nCamden Shaw\, cellist of world-renowned Dover Quartet\, joins CORE performing four roles in a single concert—orchestral cellist\, chamber musician\, soloist in an unaccompanied suite\, and concerto soloist. This program compares and contrasts the work of father and son: Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1715-1788). It also compares late-Baroque style with early-Classical style\, including the remarkable visceral virtuosity of the orchestra and soloist in CPE Bach’s Cello Concerto in A Minor. \nAdditional soloists in this program include flutist Ysmael Reyes\, a COmpass REsonance member and longtime artist of Boulder Bach Festival’s ensembles. He is joined by guest artist Katy Wherry\, performing as flute soloist with COmpass REsonance for the first time. CORE’s Music Director Zachary Carrettin joins them on violin—performing the much-adored Brandenburg Concerto #4.\nProgram:\nBrandenburg Concerto #4 in G Major\, BWV1049 by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)\nCello Suite #6 in D Major\, BWV1012 by J.S. Bach\nIntermission\nTrio Sonata in B Minor\, H567 by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1715-1788)\nConcerto for Cello and Strings in A Minor\, Wq170 by C.P.E. Bach \nApproximate run time: 110 minutes total\, including 20-minute intermission \nCamden Shaw is cellist of the Dover Quartet\, called “one of the greatest quartets in the last 100 years” by BBC Music Magazine. Mr. Shaw has performed ancient and new music in the world’s great concert halls\, including New York’s Carnegie Hall\, London’s Wigmore Hall\, and the Berlin Philharmonie. He was featured in STRAD Magazine’s Masterclass Series\, has presented sought-after content for Tonebase in addition to his own CelloMonk Instagram platform\, and joined the faculty at the Curtis Institute of Music in 2020. \nEvery soloist that collaborates with CORE brings unique artistry\, with each aspect of the collaboration conceived to offer a special experience to Boulder audiences. CORE’s co-directors performed with Mr. Shaw on stages in Texas and California and found his musicianship to be infectious—brilliant\, inspired\, and complete. COmpass REsonance artists are looking forward to this 2026/27 season opening concert! \n\n

SUMMARY:Henhouse Prowlers with Eric Wigss and Dylan McCarthy
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nMusic at the Dairy presents Henhouse Prowlers – We Are All Just Human Beings Tour with special guests Eric Wiggs and Dylan McCarthy of Jake Leg \nWith many of their wildest dreams strung across more than two decades together\, the Henhouse Prowlers’ sight remains fixed on the future. Ever constant in the group’s enthralling performances is their ability to showcase their passion for both their craft and our shared humanity. Their latest record\, ‘Unravel\,’ produced by Dark Shadow Recording’s Stephen Mougin (Sam Bush Band) underscores the quartet’s resistance towards being contained\, some tunes expressing a modern Americana feel with others nodding to classic country and bluegrass standards. On this offering\, their trademark four-part harmonies have matured in tone and sincerity\, their picking ferocious as ever. However\, it’s impossible to ensnare the Prowlers’ lifeblood in 45 minutes and 12 tracks. Each member’s skills of storytelling\, compelling songwriting\, and intricate instrumentation shine through their onstage performances. Incorporating an inspiring narrative and bluegrass takes on international tunes from their travels\, their live show will captivate minds and capture hearts. The group’s many life-changing encounters as cultural diplomats across the globe have shaped their worldview and bolstered the bridges they establish between cultures\, a main function of the band. \nhenhouseprowlers.com

SUMMARY:COmpass REsonance: MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE with Vadim Gluzman and CORE
DESCRIPTION:SUBSCRIBE\n TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOne of the world’s most famous violin soloists\, “a musician’s musician\,” Vadim Gluzman returns to perform with COmpass REsonance. The program begins with “Distant Light” Violin Concerto by Latvian composer Peteris Vasks\, a work Gluzman has performed all over the world to great acclaim. It is a significant work that uses modal and tonal building blocks to create something both new and ancient\, a timeless work of power and beauty. Distant Light is aligned with our program’s theme\, Message in a Bottle: the message coming from a distant land beyond the horizon. And what is the message? Across time and cultures we find our shared humanity. \n\nGluzman\, born in Ukraine\, spent his formative years studying the violin in Riga\, Latvia\, before coming to the United States for university studies. His career as one of the world’s top violin soloists includes historically informed Bach\, monumental Romantic and post-Romantic violin concertos\, chamber music\, and a long list of world premieres by living composers. He will lead COmpass REsonance in a world premiere that begins the second half of this concert. After that we head to the 18th Century with a trio sonata by Heinichen\, followed by the great Violin Concerto in E Major by J.S. Bach. \n\nThis program features Gluzman as soloist in two violin concertos\, guest leader of CORE in a new work\, and as chamber music collaborator in a trio sonata\, along with violinist Zachary Carrettin\, cellist Joseph Howe\, and harpsichordist Mina Gajic. \nProgram:\n“Distant Light” Violin Concerto by Peteris Vasks (b. 1946) \nIntermission \nWorld Premiere (new work to be announced) \nTrio Sonata in C Minor\, S258 by Johann David Heinichen (1683-1729) \nConcerto for Violin\, Strings\, and Basso Continuo in E Major\, BWV 1042 by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) \nApproximate run time: 90 minutes including intermission \nVadim Gluzman is one of the top concert artists in the world today\, appearing as concerto soloist with every great orchestra\, from the New York Philharmonic to the Berlin Philharmonic. One of his many unique qualities is how he approaches the music of J.S. Bach\, using historical bows and an approach to style that is deeply rooted in Baroque performance practice. In 2025\, he recorded The Complete Bach Violin Concertos with COmpass REsonance using period bows and harpsichord\, released on London-based Onyx Classics label. \nThe continued collaboration with Mr. Gluzman has proven to be extremely artistically rewarding for CORE musicians\, and this time\, in addition to performing the work of Bach\, CORE/Gluzman are presenting the world premiere of a new work\, chamber music by Bach contemporary Heinichen\, and the famous “Distant Light” Violin Concerto by Peteris Vasks.

SUMMARY:COmpass REsonance: SANDS OF TIME with Mina Gajić and CORE
DESCRIPTION:SUBSCRIBE\n TICKETS\nCORE’s Artistic Director\, Mina Gajić performs the rarely heard Piano Concerto in A Minor (1822) by Felix Mendelssohn\, a fiendishly difficult and impassioned work. Dr. Gajić\, joined by violinist Zachary Carrettin and flutist Ysmael Reyes\, presents another rarity\, J.S. Bach’s trio sonata from “A Musical Offering\,” performed in early Romantic Era style. As Mendelssohn was one of the first Bach-focused musicologists\, this performance looks to Bach as Mendelssohn would have heard and performed Bach’s music. The program opens with the strings of COmpass REsonance performing a riveting work featuring fiery fugues by a composer who traveled in Bach’s circles\, Christoph Graupner.\n  \nProgram:\nSonata à 4 for strings and continuo\, GWV724 by Christoph Graupner (1683-1760)\nTrio Sonata from Musikalisches Opfer\, BWV1079 by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)\nConcerto for Piano and Strings in A Minor (1822) by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809-1847) \nApproximate run time: 70 minutes performed without intermission \nDr. Mina Gajić brings a unique vision as Artistic Director of COmpass REsonance. Her work spans four continents as piano soloist and collaborator\, and as a recording artist on modern pianos\, Romantic Era period pianos\, and harpsichord. Her discography includes J.S. Bach Harpsichord Concerto in D Minor (Boulder Bach Festival—Sono Luminus)\, continuo keyboard in The Bach Violin Concertos in addition to piano in duo collaboration with Vadim Gluzman (COmpass REsonance—Onyx Classics)\, Mozart/Pärt/Vasks solo and chamber music (Sonic Alchemy)\, Tajcevic/Granlund solo and duo works (Confluence)\, Schubert chamber music on period instruments (Boundless)\, prepared piano works by John Cage (Bach UnCaged)\, and new work by Icelandic composers as part of the duo\, Mystery Sonata with Zachary Carrettin (Aequora). \nPrior to emigrating from Belgrade\, Serbia\, Dr. Gajić won numerous international piano and collaborative music competitions in Europe. She then completed graduate degrees at Rice University Shepherd School of Music and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with studies in piano\, chamber music\, and harpsichord\, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at University of Colorado.
