Dairy Arts Center

Every two years the Dairy Arts Center seeks applications from a variety of arts organizations that are interested in creating a deeper engagement with the Dairy. Originally conceived as a way to manage the high demand for theater rentals on certain dates, the concept has evolved into a community of arts organizations that wish to have a more collaborative relationship with the Dairy.

Our Goal, in service to our mission, is to establish collaborative relationships with a select number of presenting organizations that represent a diverse range of art forms and perspectives.

Partner Qualification

Every two years a committee of Dairy staff, board, and community members select partner organizations based upon the following criteria:

  • Reputation in the community through reviews, public recognition and industry awards
  • Historical ticket sales volume (indicating public demand)
  • History of uniqueness of content and/or style
  • Ability to attract new audiences to the Dairy and to Boulder
  • Potential for attracting diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated marketing expertise
  • Suitability to the spaces available at the Dairy
  • Range of works performed
  • Consistently high quality production values

The number of partner organizations are determined by the applications we receive, the desired venue each partner would like to use, and how The Dairy can best accommodate all partners. When partner organizations are announced, it will include their preferred venue as well as who and how many organizations will be sharing priority in that venue.

Partner Benefits and Responsibilities

Calendar Prioritization
All partner organizations receive priority booking status to ensure theater availability and are notified when the booking calendar for the next season is available for requesting dates. All partner organization calendar requests must be received by a specific deadline.

After that date, the opening of the calendar is communicated to the general arts community, giving all other local organizations an opportunity to book at the Dairy. These performances are booked into the calendar on a first-response basis until all dates are filled.

Mutual Collaborative Recognition
In addition to standard venue rental marketing efforts, all partner organizations are identified as such and are recognized prominently on the Dairy website with live links to each organization’s website. Partner organizations will provide up to 5% of the house in complimentary tickets to The Dairy to be used at their discretion, in addition to the standard “house seats.” Partner organizations will recognize The Dairy in curtain speeches and in printed and online materials.

Collaborative Roundtables
Partner organizations are invited to take part in quarterly roundtables to discuss collaborative ideas, best practices and national trends with the goal of connecting Boulder’s artistic communities and providing artistic leadership and inspiration to the Boulder community and beyond.
