SUMMARY:Mr. Nobody Against Putin | Mar 25-29
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nNominee: Best Documentary Feature – 98th Academy Awards \nPasha Talankin is an unlikely hero—a beloved Russian primary school teacher\, known as a mentor and prankster who offers students a safe haven in his office. After Russia invades Ukraine\, Pasha’s role in the school changes dramatically as he is reluctantly drawn into Putin’s propaganda machine. Forced to promote state-sanctioned messages and horrified by the transformation of his school and community\, he struggles with guilt and a sense of powerlessness\, leading him to become an international whistleblower. As the school’s videographer\, Pasha documents intimate and revealing footage of Putin’s regime\, capturing the rise of militarized children’s groups\, repressive laws\, fervent nationalism\, and the recruitment of graduating students to fight in the war. When he learns his own life may be at risk\, Pasha is forced to plan a dangerous escape from Russia. (David Borenstein & Pavel Talankin\, 2025\, Denmark/Czechia/Germany\, 1:30\, NR)

SUMMARY:Sirāt | Mar 25-29
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nNominated for two Academy Awards. A father (Sergi López) and his son arrive at a rave deep in the mountains of southern Morocco. They are searching for Mar — daughter and sister — who vanished months ago at one of these endless\, sleepless parties. Surrounded by electronic music and a raw\, unfamiliar sense of freedom\, they hand out her photo again and again. Hope is fading\, but they push through and follow a group of ravers heading to one last party in the desert. As they venture deeper into the burning wilderness\, the journey forces them to confront their own limits. (Oliver Laxe\, 2025\, Spain\, 1:55\, R)

SUMMARY:BVSD Annual High School Art Exhibition Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:On View April 2 – May 3 | Opening Reception: April 2 \, 5 – 7 PM \nFor the BVSD Annual High School Art Exhibition\, this year’s theme is “The Third Eye\,” in line with this year’s PEEK fundraiser theme. The prompt was shared with BVSD educators in September\, giving teachers and students an entire academic year to explore the idea in the classroom. The theme has served as a launching point for sustained educational inquiry. The exhibition opens with a public reception and\, in partnership with Boulder Arts Week\, will feature a student-led artist talk for the first time. \nThe Third Eye invites student artists to explore the connections between art\, spirituality\, and the unseen. Centered on the idea that art can be more than representation\, the theme positions creative practice as a portal into liminal spaces\, forgotten rituals\, and deeper ways of knowing. \nAcross art history\, artists have turned to spiritual and mystical traditions as sources of transformation—from Hildegard of Bingen’s illuminated visions and Georgiana Houghton’s trance drawings to the abstract languages of Hilma af Klint and Wassily Kandinsky. In this lineage\, students ask: How does art help us access the unknown? How can ritual\, myth\, or meditation be part of creative practice? What does it mean to “see” beyond the visible?

SUMMARY:Motus Theater Presents: Motus Playback Many Paths\, One Home: Stories of Colorado and Country
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nMotus Theater Presents: Motus Playback — Many Paths\, One Home: Stories of Colorado and Country \nShare your story and engage in community conversation about our past\, present\, and future. \nIn recognition of the 250th anniversary of the United States and 150 years of Colorado\, Motus Theater invites you to an interactive Playback Theater performance exploring how our family stories are in conversation with the history of our country and state\, as well as of our democracy. \nAudience members are invited to share short stories or reflections\, stories of family\, migration\, love\, land\, loss\, resilience\, and belonging. These stories are then improvised live on stage by Motus Playback actors through movement\, music\, and spoken word\, transforming individual experiences into a collective moment of recognition and connection. \nEach performance becomes a living conversation\, where many paths\, perspectives\, and histories meet. Stories may be joyful or difficult\, recent or long-held\, deeply personal or broadly shared. Together\, audience and performers co-create a one-of-a-kind theater experience rooted in listening\, imagination\, and civic connection. \nThere is no pressure to speak. Whether you choose to share or simply witness\, your presence matters. By gathering\, listening\, and reflecting together about our past and present\, we’ll imagine the future we can still build\, together.

SUMMARY:Young Mothers | Apr 1-5
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nApr 1-5 \nIn a shelter in Liège\, Belgium\, a group of young women face the challenges and exhilaration of motherhood. Looking ahead to an uncertain future\, the new mothers aspire to break free of the past and not repeat the cycles of neglect\, abuse\, and abandonment that have defined their young lives. Jessica grew up in a foster family\, and must understand why her biological mother could not keep her. Perla wrestles with the unreliability of her boyfriend\, and confronts the possibility that she may need to raise her child alone. Julie has a more stable partner\, but cannot imagine parenthood until she overcomes her drug habit once and for all. And Ariane must protect her baby at all costs\, with the daunting recognition that her home may not be safe for her daughter. Winner of the Best Screenplay prize at Cannes\, this is a delicate and hopeful study of women on the brink of new life. (Jean-Pierre Dardenne & Luc Dardenne\, 2025\, Belgium\, 1:45\, NR)
