SUMMARY:Mistress Dispeller | Nov 19-23
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nNov 19-23 \nIn China\, a new industry has emerged devoted to helping couples stay married in the face of infidelity. Wang Zhenxi is part of this growing profession and is hired to go undercover and break up affairs by any means necessary; a “mistress dispeller.” Offering strikingly intimate access to a real\, unfolding love triangle\, Mistress Dispeller documents all sides of what is usually kept behind closed doors. As Teacher Wang attempts to bring a couple back from the edge of crisis\, sympathies shift between husband\, wife and mistress while emotion\, pragmatism and cultural norms collide in this spellbinding look at modern love. SUMMARY:The Librarians | Nov 26-30
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nNov 26-30 \nLibrarians emerge as first responders in the fight for democracy and our First Amendment Rights. As they well know\, controlling the flow of ideas means control over communities. \nIn Texas\, the Krause List targets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQIA+ stories – triggering sweeping book bans across the U.S. at an unprecedented rate. As tensions escalate\, librarians connect the dots from heated school and library board meetings nationwide to lay bare the underpinnings of a large-scale coordinated extremist movement fueling the censorship efforts. \nDespite facing harassment\, threats\, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work – the librarians’ rallying cry for freedom to read is a chilling cautionary tale. SUMMARY:The Summer Book | Dec 26-30
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nNine-year-old Sophia (Emily Matthews) spends the summers at her family’s seasonal home on a tranquil isle in the Gulf of Finland\, but this will be the first summer without her mother. With a sense of infinite possibility and a tender regard for the wonders of the natural world\, Sophia and her grandmother explore the terrain\, celebrate midsommar\, and test the limits of faith in the face of life’s many storms. Adapted from Tove Jansson’s beloved novel\, The Summer Book is a delicate account of growing up and growing old\, beautifully filmed on 16mm in majestic natural light. SUMMARY:Mr. K | Nov 28
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nNov 28 \nTraveling magician Mr. K (Crispin Glover) is down on his luck. Business is slow\, and the few gigs he’s picked up along the road have left him adrift. After spending the night in a remote hotel\, he is alarmed when he discovers that he is unable to find the exit. As he explores the maze-like corridors\, he hears strange noises and encounters a series of curious inhabitants who have formed their own factions within the walls of the hotel. Alone and afraid\, he starts mapping out the corridors\, desperately hoping to get to the bottom of the building’s layout before it is too late. Stuck more hopelessly than ever and about to give up\, he makes a bizarre discovery that will change everything. Starring the ever-eccentric Crispin Glover\, this Kafkaesque mystery offers a bold new take on falling down the rabbit hole. (Tallulah Hazekamp Schwab\, 2025\, Netherlands\, 1:36\, NR)
