SUMMARY:BETC: The Thin Place | Oct. 3-26
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nCan we communicate with the dead if we try hard enough? Hilda thinks she can\, and she’s befriended Linda\, an eccentric but persuasive medium to transport her to “the thin place\,” the fragile boundary between the living and the dead. \nIs Linda a con artist preying on the grief and suffering of the living\, or is she bestowing the gift of believing upon her willing subjects? \nLucas Hnath’s brilliant play transforms the theater into an intimate seance\, putting all of us who meet there into a very spooky state of mind. \nA New York Times Critics’ Pick\, The Thin Place won rave reviews when it was first produced in 2019.

SUMMARY:Boulder Jewish Film Festival 2025 | Midas Man
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nOn Thursday\, November 9\,1961\, a young record store manager named Brian Epstein descended the stairs to a cellar in Liverpool and made a life-changing discovery that would revolutionize the musical world. Jacob Fortune-Lloyd (“The Queen’s Gambit\,” “The Great”) stars in this lively\, nostalgic biodrama as the charming\, visionary “fifth Beatle.” Epstein was an entrepreneur who discovered\, managed and championed the Fab Four on their meteoric rise. A gay man from a wealthy\, disapproving Jewish family in the swinging ‘60s\, Epstein was the mercurial mastermind whose chutzpah\, musical taste\, and sense of style were instrumental in creating not only Beatlemania but the British Invasion.

SUMMARY:Boulder Jewish Film Festival 2025 | Charles Grodin: Rebel with a Cause
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nMuch more than a showbiz bio of a beloved actor\, a hilarious comedian and talented talk show host\, this heartfelt tribute also pays homage to a remarkable humanitarian who devoted his later years to freeing wrongly convicted prisoners. Known for his dry wit and deadpan delivery\, Grodin captivated audiences in films such as “The Heartbreak Kid\,” “Beethoven\,” “Catch 22” and “Midnight Run.” He made frequent appearances on The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson and Late Night with David Letterman and hosted his own talk show on CNBC. SUMMARY:Boulder Jewish Film Festival 2025 | Swedishkayt: Yidlife Crisis in Stockholm
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nDid you know that Yiddish is an official language in Sweden? In this entertaining and eye-opening Yiddish-inflected escapade\, a popular Canadian comedy duo travel to Sweden to perform. Much to their surprise\, they unearth an incredibly rich mother lode of Jewish culture. The writers and stars Eli Batalion and Jamie Elman are the wildly idiosyncratic creators of the irreverent tribute to Yiddish language\, culture and comedic tradition called “Yidlife Crisis.” In their critically acclaimed web series\, launched in 2014\, they play best friends and adversaries Chaimie and Leizer\, who tackle life\, love\, and lactose intolerance. In this foray into feature length film\, the pair’s playful shtick serves them well as they unexpectedly encounter a community steeped in Yiddishkeit. \nJoin us for our talk back with Katarina Schare. Born in Sweden in a tiny Jewish community\, Katarina has lived in Boulder since 2009 and opened Hävenly Baked Goods in 2019\, selling gluten-free versions of Swedish bread recipes to more than 70 restaurants.

SUMMARY:Left Behind
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nThis film is generously sponsored by Rolfing Collective\, with support from the Dairy Arts Center Women’s Giving Circle. Rolfing Collective is a group of North Boulder Rolfers® and Structural Integrators dedicated to helping people find balance and resilience through manual therapy and somatic awareness. We’re proud to sponsor the film Left Behind in support of meaningful community initiatives. \nJoin us for a post film discussion led by Kathy Sherman\, Co-Found and Director of Enrollment of the Hillside School & Center for Dyslexia  \nAbout the film: \nApproximately 200\,000 New York City public school students are dyslexic\, yet there is no public initiative that provides the specialized skill and care necessary for these learners. \nFrustrated that they had to remove their own kids from the public school system\, a group of determined moms band together to do something that’s never been done before – open New York City’s first public school for dyslexic students. The journey is not a smooth ride\, and they face both institutional and personal hurdles as they try to upend a system . \nA new mayoral candidate bolsters their fight after he reveals his own dyslexia. But will they be able to convince a bureaucratic education system to overhaul outdated politics to ensure a brighter future for the city’s dyslexic youth? \n(Anna Toomey\, 2025\, USA\, 1:14\, NR) \n\n\n\n\n\n\nInterested in sponsoring a film at the Dairy Arts Center? SUMMARY:Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror | Oct. 29-Nov. 2
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \n  \nFrom humble origins as a London fringe theater play to its meteoric rise\, fall and resurrection as the biggest cult film of all time\, this is the definitive story of the Rocky Horror Show\, which was first released in theaters 50 years ago on September 26\, 1975. With intimate access to its creator Richard O’Brien and other major players such as Tim Curry\, Susan Sarandon and Lou Adler\, the documentary explores what makes the play and film so singular: Its groundbreaking and transgressive themes\, iconic performances and epic songs that took over popular culture. The cult phenomenon that sprung around it is unparalleled\, and created not only the midnight screenings which continue to this day\, but also a safe haven for those who ever felt different or marginalized. SUMMARY:Boulder Jewish Film Festival 2025 | Riefenstahl
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nThis timely documentary explores the infamous German filmmaker’s controversial artistic legacy and her complicity in glorifying the Nazi regime through her formidable talent. The riveting film explores the line between art and propaganda and reveals the seductive power of Nazi ideology\, offering a disturbing and highly relevant portrait of profound self-delusion and evasion of personal responsibility. Director Andres Veiel obtained access to Leni Riefenstahl’s personal archives to assemble a damning profile of the unrepentant director\, one that challenges her attempts to distance herself from Hitler. This psychological portrait of the infamous director of “Olympia” and “Triumph of the Will” is the chilling story of an artist who made a pact with the devil.

At the World Judo Championships\, a female Iranian judoka is willing to risk all to win the gold medal\, even if it means defying the Supreme Leader. Filmed in black and white and featuring striking cinematography\, this tense drama is loosely based on a shocking international incident. It showcases the resilience of Iranian women seeking self-determination\, the cost of defying an oppressive regime\, and the flagrant antisemitism that finds its way into international sports. Oscar-winning Israeli director Guy Nattiv (“Skin”) teamed with Iranian refuge filmmaker Zar Amir (Cannes Film Festival Best Actress-Winner for “Holy Spider”)\, who co-stars in the film as the coach faced with a life-or-death decision.
