SUMMARY:VIVA Theater: Our Town
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nOur Town has been described by writer Edward Albee as “…the greatest American play ever written.” First performed in 1938\, the play has gone on to numerous revivals on Broadway and countless productions in theaters large and small around the world. Our Town won the Pulitzer Prize for its author\, Thornton Wilder. \nThe story follows characters in the fictional town of Grover’s Corners\, New Hampshire\, through events such as “Daily Life”\, “Love & Marriage”\, and “Death and Eternity”. The staging is famously minimal\, and the action is narrated by a person known only as the Stage Manager. The deceptively simple structure of Our Town veils the profound question at its heart: What is it like to be a human being during our short time on Earth?\nMoving\, universal\, and complex\, the play reminds us of our shared humanity.

SUMMARY:Mother's Day with Hazel Miller and the Collective\, and Soda Blue
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \n\nColorado-based music icon Hazel Miller has a reputation for “bringing it” whether the event is a club setting\, concert\, festival\, or non-profit fundraiser. Hazel has toured North America\, Europe\, the Far East\, the Middle East\, and Central America. Her powerful voice stands out and her beautiful spirit shines through to the delight of her loyal fans. With one of the tightest and most versatile bands on the scene\, this show will please not only Mom\, but the whole family. \nSoda Blue is a musical group based on the quirky and unorthodox\, 37 year friendship between David Fermanich and Alice Frisch. David loves pop music from almost any era: most especially performers like Paul Simon\, the Everly Brothers\, and The Ventures. Alice loves blues\, classic rock and R&B tunes\, so you’ll hear her break into songs such as Chuck E’s In Love\, Green River and Chain of Fools. We both love silliness and making you smile so\, we like to keep things a little random. Occasionally…someone might even break into a kazoo solo. You never know what you’ll get! \nYour ticket includes a dessert buffet\, flowers for the mothers\, and a complimentary glass of prosecco (for those of age.)

SUMMARY:My Name is Alfred Hitchcock
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nMay 14-18 \nA century after the debut of Alfred Hitchcock’s first feature\, he remains one of the most influential filmmakers in the history of cinema. But how does his vast body of work and legacy hold up in today’s world? Mark Cousins\, the award-winning filmmaker behind Women Make Film\, The Storms of Jeremy Thomas\, and The Story of Film: A New Generation\, tackles this question and looks at the auteur with a new and radical approach: through the use of his own voice. As Hitchcock rewatches his films\, we are taken on an odyssey through his vast career — his vivid silent films\, the legendary films of the 1950s and 60s and his later works — in playful and revealing ways.
SUMMARY:FNW: The Rule of Jenny Pen
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nArrogant Judge Stefan Mortensen (Geoffrey Rush) suffers a near-fatal stroke\, leaving him partially paralyzed and confined to a retirement home. Resistant to the staff and distant from his friendly roommate\, Mortensen soon clashes with seemingly gentle resident Dave Crealy (John Lithgow) who secretly terrorizes the home with a sadistic game called “The Rule of Jenny Pen” while wielding his dementia doll as an instrument of cruelty. What begins as childish torment quickly escalates into far more sinister and disturbing incidents. When Mortensen’s pleas to the staff go unanswered\, he takes it upon himself to put an end to Crealy’s reign of terror. (James Ashcroft\, 2024\, New Zealand\, 1:44\, R) \n

SUMMARY:Upcycled Mosaic Pendants with Jane Glotzer
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\n“Break” into the ancient art of mosaics with a modern twist in this workshop led by Jane Glotzer. Combine tiny\, hand-cut pieces of stained glass\, mirror\, and/or broken ceramics with beads and gems to create beautiful mosaic pendants. This hands-on class is suitable for all skill levels. Basic fine motor skills are required and good eyesight (bring your magnifiers if you need them) for close-up work. All materials are provided\, but you are welcome to bring along potential items for your pendant such as broken jewelry\, earrings\, beads\, chain\, broken dishes\, etc. if you like. By the end of the workshop\, you’ll leave with a uniquely personal pendant that reflects both your creativity and a thoughtful approach to upcycling castoffs through reuse and redesign. \nMeet the Maker: \nJane Glotzer is a seasoned mosaic artist with over 20 years of experience working primarily with reclaimed materials. Her work focuses on reducing waste and consumption by transforming upcycled materials into contemporary mosaic fine art which has been exhibited nationally and is held in private and public collections. Jane’s art\, created with the discarded and the overlooked\, the used but not used up\, demonstrates her powerful environmental message\, while also celebrating the value and beauty of age and old things.

SUMMARY:The Upstart Crow Theatre Company presents Romeo & Juliet
