Dec. 16 – Conceived in the musical hotbed of New York City’s Lower East Side, Polygraph Lounge is the duo of Rob Schwimmer and Mark Stewart. The virtuosic duo specializes in musical hilarity/anarchy in the Spike Jones tradition. This is a rib-tickling musical rollercoaster ride in the spirit of Victor Borge, PDQ Bach, and Weird Al Yankovic—featuring an audience noseflute choir.
Individually, Rob and Mark have worked with a who’s who list of artists including: Paul Simon, Wayne Shorter, Steve Reich, Laurie Anderson, Bang on a Can, Stevie Wonder, Annette Peacock, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Willie Nelson, Anthony Braxton, Kurt Vonnegut, and many more.
Joining them will be their amazingly versatile vocalist, Melissa Fathman.
“Challah-Daze Spectacular” incorporates high brow, low brow, and uni-brow humor. Enjoy seasonal favorites like, Tchaikovsky, You Rock the Howski, I Have Some Nuts that Need Cracking, Dance of the Radio Show Psychologist, and Hanukkah in Santa Monica. PDQ Bach composer Peter Schickele calls Polygraph Lounge, “Mind-numbing virtuosity and rib-tickling wit… They take words and music apart and put them back together in astonishing and hilariously unexpected ways.”
Rob and Mark will also be presenting their “Live from Brooklyn” performance at the Dairy Arts Center on December 17th.
Special thanks to the Antonia and Vladimer Kulaev Cultural Heritage Fund, Inc. for sponsoring this concert.
