SUMMARY:National Theater Live: Mrs. Warren's Profession | Dec 14 & 16
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nFive-time Olivier Award winner Imelda Staunton (The Crown) joins forces with her real-life daughter Bessie Carter (Bridgerton) for the very first time\, playing mother and daughter in Bernard Shaw’s incendiary moral classic. \nVivie Warren is a woman ahead of her time. Her mother\, however\, is a product of that old patriarchal order. Exploiting it has earned Mrs. Warren a fortune – but at what cost? \nFilmed live from the West End\, this new production reunites Staunton with director Dominic Cooke (Follies\, Good)\, exploring the clash between morality and independence\, traditions and progress. SUMMARY:Checkpoint Zoo | Dec 10-13
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nA gripping documentary set during the early days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine\, when Kharkiv’s beloved Feldman Ecopark Zoo found itself caught in the crossfire between advancing Russian forces and Ukrainian defenders. Home to over 5\,000 animals\, the approaching front line left the zoo’s creatures trapped in their cages with little food and water\, facing starvation and increasing danger as the Russian army approached. The zoo’s founder\, Oleksandr Feldman\, posted a desperate plea to social media asking for help. Miraculously\, the post went viral\, and zoos from across Ukraine and all of Europe volunteered to house the remaining animals. Encouraged by the response\, the zoo staff and these volunteers resolved to do the impossible – they would sneak back into Feldman Ecopark and evacuate thousands of animals\, including many dangerous predators\, and bring them to safety. In doing so\, they put themselves in incredible danger\, risking their lives to save innocent animals. (Joshua Zeman\, 2024\, UK\, 1:43\, NR)

SUMMARY:Chainsaws Were Singing | Dec 12
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nMaria is having one of the worst days of her life. Her parents died. Her dog\, too. She was fired from her job. She was beaten by thugs in the street. But all of her troubles melt away when she locks eyes with Tom in the midst of his suicide attempt. Soon\, the gobsmacked young lovers are hand-in-hand\, bounding across sun-dappled meadows and expressing their undying love through song. Their courtship is cut short when a spree killer with a chainsaw and his own musical backstory takes Maria captive to feed his grotesque family of cannibals\, consisting of his overbearing mother\, artistically inclined little brother\, and incestuous cousins Pepe and Kevin. Vowing to come to his lady’s rescue\, Tom teams up with Jaan\, a goodhearted\, goofy passerby with nothing but time on his hands and a song in his heart. The two head deep into the woods\, embarking on a madcap quest full of blood\, guts\, and toe-tapping show tunes. Along the way\, they’ll encounter some trigger-happy\, pastry-loving cops\, a helpful little hedgehog\, a shitload of exploding cars\, and a cult that worships a talking fridge full of nauseating contents. Nearly 10 years in the making\, this bastard child of Stephen Sondheim and Lloyd Kaufman is an utterly indescribable Estonian odyssey. (Sander Maran\, 2024\, Estonia\, 1:57\, NR)

DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nGeorge Orwell was one of the most radical and visionary authors of the 20th Century\, whose 1940s novels\, such as 1984 and Animal Farm\, foretold a chilling\, all-too-believable authoritarian future that has become scarily prescient in our modern era. Acclaimed director Raoul Peck (I Am Not Your Negro)\, working in collaboration with the Orwell Estate\, seamlessly interweaves historical clips\, readings from Orwell’s diary\, cinematic references\, and dynamic modern day footage to craft not only a definitive portrait of the writer himself\, but an entirely fresh take on how remarkably relevant and prophetic his work has become. SUMMARY:The Librarians | Nov 26-30
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nNov 26-30 \nLibrarians emerge as first responders in the fight for democracy and our First Amendment Rights. As they well know\, controlling the flow of ideas means control over communities. \nIn Texas\, the Krause List targets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQIA+ stories – triggering sweeping book bans across the U.S. at an unprecedented rate. As tensions escalate\, librarians connect the dots from heated school and library board meetings nationwide to lay bare the underpinnings of a large-scale coordinated extremist movement fueling the censorship efforts. \nDespite facing harassment\, threats\, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work – the librarians’ rallying cry for freedom to read is a chilling cautionary tale. SUMMARY:Mr. K | Nov 28
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nNov 28 \nTraveling magician Mr. K (Crispin Glover) is down on his luck. Business is slow\, and the few gigs he’s picked up along the road have left him adrift. After spending the night in a remote hotel\, he is alarmed when he discovers that he is unable to find the exit. As he explores the maze-like corridors\, he hears strange noises and encounters a series of curious inhabitants who have formed their own factions within the walls of the hotel. Alone and afraid\, he starts mapping out the corridors\, desperately hoping to get to the bottom of the building’s layout before it is too late. Stuck more hopelessly than ever and about to give up\, he makes a bizarre discovery that will change everything. His comedy blends real life stories\, cultural identity\, and quick wit into a style that’s equal parts heartfelt and hilarious. Vinnie’s work has been featured on Dry Bar Comedy (Armed & Hilarious and Funny Moments)\, Amazon Prime Video (Vinnie-isms: The Story of the Cop Comedian)\, and the Heroes Off Duty Comedy Tour\, and he has performed for U.S. troops overseas through the Gary Sinise Foundation. \nNancy Norton\nNancy Norton\, RN CHP\, delivers uplifting\, interactive\, and hilarious performances infused with insight from her years as both a comedian and a registered nurse. She is the first woman to win the Boston Comedy Festival and the Seattle International Comedy Competition and has been recognized as “Best of the Fest” alongside Jay Leno at the Burbank Comedy Festival. Nancy has entertained U.S. and international audiences\, including multiple USO tours for troops in Europe\, Asia\, Iceland\, and the Pacific. In 2024\, she became a Certified Humor Professional through the Association of Applied and Therapeutic Humor and now hosts the Tromedy podcast—helping people transform life’s pain into laughter. \nJohn Novosad\nJohn Novosad is a stand-up comedian and Boulder native who has been performing for over three decades across the country.
