SUMMARY:Good Boy | Nov 7
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nNov 7 \nOur canine hero\, Indy\, finds himself on a new adventure with his human owner—and best friend—Todd\, leaving city life for a long-vacant family home in the country. From the start\, two things are abundantly clear: Indy is wary of the creepy old house\, and his affection for Todd is unwavering. After moving in\, Indy is immediately vexed by empty corners\, tracks an invisible presence only he can see\, perceives phantasmagoric warnings from a long-dead dog\, and is haunted by visions of the previous occupant’s grim death. When Todd begins succumbing to the dark forces swirling around the house\, Indy must battle a malevolence intent on dragging his beloved Todd into the afterlife. SUMMARY:Boulder Jewish Film Festival 2025 | Swedishkayt: Yidlife Crisis in Stockholm
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nReception | 5 pm | Dairy Arts Lobby \nDid you know that Yiddish is an official language in Sweden? In this entertaining and eye-opening Yiddish-inflected escapade\, a popular Canadian comedy duo travel to Sweden to perform. Much to their surprise\, they unearth an incredibly rich mother lode of Jewish culture. The writers and stars Eli Batalion and Jamie Elman are the wildly idiosyncratic creators of the irreverent tribute to Yiddish language\, culture and comedic tradition called “Yidlife Crisis.” In their critically acclaimed web series\, launched in 2014\, they play best friends and adversaries Chaimie and Leizer\, who tackle life\, love\, and lactose intolerance. In this foray into feature length film\, the pair’s playful shtick serves them well as they unexpectedly encounter a community steeped in Yiddishkeit. \nJoin us for our talk back with Katarina Schare. Born in Sweden in a tiny Jewish community\, Katarina has lived in Boulder since 2009 and opened Hävenly Baked Goods in 2019\, selling gluten-free versions of Swedish bread recipes to more than 70 restaurants.

SUMMARY:Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror | Oct. 29-Nov. 2
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \n  \nFrom humble origins as a London fringe theater play to its meteoric rise\, fall and resurrection as the biggest cult film of all time\, this is the definitive story of the Rocky Horror Show\, which was first released in theaters 50 years ago on September 26\, 1975. With intimate access to its creator Richard O’Brien and other major players such as Tim Curry\, Susan Sarandon and Lou Adler\, the documentary explores what makes the play and film so singular: Its groundbreaking and transgressive themes\, iconic performances and epic songs that took over popular culture. The cult phenomenon that sprung around it is unparalleled\, and created not only the midnight screenings which continue to this day\, but also a safe haven for those who ever felt different or marginalized. SUMMARY:Musical Vanguards at The Dairy presents Death of the Pugilist
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nThe ensemble piece “Death of The Pugilist: Or\, the famous battle of Jacob Burke & Blindman McGraw” is based on contemporary American novelist Daniel Mason’s short story. Set on the quayside docks amid the squalor of working-class life in 1820’s England\, the narrative follows a young man as he comes of age in a rough-and-tumble profession\, with music weaving the rich layers of emotional tapestry and humanity. The ensemble includes a narrator and four other musicians\, each a wonderfully eclectic individual steeped in a wide array of musical traditions. Drawing from the musical elements of contrapuntal Bach\, minimalistic Philip Glass\, blues and Irish folk music\, the production creates an experience of story and music that is deeply moving and truly unique.\nThe talented ensemble features narrator Jem Moore\, alongside four exceptional and award-winning musicians: MinTze Wu\, Eric Thorin\, Joy Adams\, and Blayne Chastain.

DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nCan we communicate with the dead if we try hard enough? Hilda thinks she can\, and she’s befriended Linda\, an eccentric but persuasive medium to transport her to “the thin place\,” the fragile boundary between the living and the dead. \nIs Linda a con artist preying on the grief and suffering of the living\, or is she bestowing the gift of believing upon her willing subjects? \nLucas Hnath’s brilliant play transforms the theater into an intimate seance\, putting all of us who meet there into a very spooky state of mind. \nA New York Times Critics’ Pick\, The Thin Place won rave reviews when it was first produced in 2019.

SUMMARY:Köln 75 | Oct. 21-25
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nKeith Jarrett’s legendary performance in January 1975 nearly didn’t happen. Based on a true story\, Köln 75 follows how the concert was conceived and orchestrated by the efforts of a teenage up and coming concert promoter\, Vera Brandes\, (played by German actress Mala Emde). Her enthusiasm set her to multitasking – from organizing the concert venue (the Cologne Opera House)\, promoting the event\, and selling the tickets\, to convincing Jarrett to perform when he almost dropped out when the Bösendorfer Imperial Grand piano he was promised was nowhere to be found. John Magaro plays Jarrett with his own intensity\, a sublime counterpoint to Mala Emde’s joyful portrayal of the enthusiastic and unstoppable Vera. Köln 75 captures the compelling\, entertaining and\, until now\, unknown back story about Jarrett’s one-hour\, entirely improvised concert\, which became the best-selling solo album in jazz history. SUMMARY:Bring Them Home | Oct. 13-18
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nBring Them Home/Aiskótáhkapiyaaya chronicles a decades-long initiative by members of the Blackfoot Confederacy to bring wild buffalo (Blackfeet: iinnii) back to the Blackfeet Reservation. A thriving wild buffalo population would not only reconnect Blackfeet with a central part of their heritage\, spirituality\, and identity but would also provide economic opportunities and healing for the community. Along the way\, however\, the initiative faces obstacles from ranchers who see the buffalo as a threat to the cattle ranches that dominate the land and are a legacy of colonization. SUMMARY:COmpass REsonance: The Four Seasons with Vadim Gluzman
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nTHE FOUR SEASONS featuring Vadim Gluzman with COmpass REsonance \nFrom North African winds to the Adriatic Sea’s microclimates\, Venice boasts some of Europe’s most captivating seasonal shifts—and no music captures the essence of Venetian life year-round quite like Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons.” Imagine gazing out your window during a summer storm\, mosquitoes humming\, dogs barking\, wild winter winds sweeping through\, the enchantment of a quiet snowfall\, and the exuberance of sunny springtime—these four concertos encapsulate it all! \nRenowned globally for his extraordinary artistry\, violinist Vadim Gluzman brings his unparalleled interpretation of these beloved baroque masterpieces to life. Accompanying the performance\, the evocative sonnets included in Vivaldi’s original manuscript will be recited\, transporting audiences into the vivid natural world that inspired these timeless works. Interwoven between Vivaldi’s concertos\, Gluzman will present poignant contemporary solo violin pieces by Ukrainian composer Valentyn Silvestrov\, who fled his homeland amidst conflict. This compelling musical dialogue traverses eras\, offering a striking contrast and a profound experience of musical time travel. \nPerformances by Vadim Gluzman in the world’s leading concert halls consistently sell out—hearing him in the intimate setting of The Dairy is a rare and extraordinary opportunity\, echoing the intimate ambiance of Vivaldi’s original 18th-century Venetian performances. \nCOmpass REsonance (CORE) is a conductorless ensemble uniting acclaimed musicians from across the U.S. alongside Colorado’s finest talents. CORE’s artists\, comprising concertmasters\, principal orchestral players\, and distinguished quartet performers from Asia\, Europe\, and North America\, gather in Boulder to present innovative musical experiences that transcend time and culture. \n“Gluzman… demonstrated his mastery from the start\, dominating the platform with his golden tone and command of the long lyrical line. His rich\, warm\, and generous sound… soared above the orchestra… and he entered into the music’s rough and tumble with virtuoso abandon. Vintage stuff.” -Musical America
