SUMMARY:Sans Souci: Dancing on the Planet
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nDancing on the Planet is a curated dance film screening featuring shorts from Colombia\, India\, Italy\, France\, Germany\, the US\, and the UK\, and it will remind you just how small you are\, and how big this world can be. This collection of art shorts repositions the viewer in relationship to the Earth and connects our bodies to the places we call home\, near and far. Through a multitude of approaches including site-specific screendance\, experimental\, and documentary\, this screening illustrates that the range of humanity’s expression is as vast as the range of environments on the planet. \nSans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema is one of Boulder’s longstanding favorite arts organizations\, and we’re so happy to return to one of our most beloved venues\, the Boedecker Cinema at Dairy Arts Center. We will also be presenting another program\, Dancing as Ourselves\, in November — search for “Sans Souci” on Boe cinema calendar for details. \nSee the film lineup and more info here: https://sanssoucifestival.org/ssf-the-boe-2026

SUMMARY:First Draft to Bookshelf: The Making of a Novel with Author Wallis Kinney
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nThere is no such thing as a perfect first draft. Yet many writers face the blank page with the pressure to get everything right the first time. \nJoin Boulder author Wallis Kinney for a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of her internationally bestselling debut romantic fantasy novel\, A Dark and Secret Magic. Through drafts\, notes\, reader feedback\, and editorial revisions\, Kinney will trace the evolution of her novel from its earliest handwritten ideas to its final published form. \nParticipants will get a rare glimpse into the collaborative process behind writing and publishing a book\, exploring how stories change through revision\, critique\, and creative experimentation. SUMMARY:Hiraeth
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nHiraeth (n.\, Welsh) — a deep and wistful\, nostalgic sense of longing for home; a home that is no longer\, or perhaps never was. \nWhat if we were the authors of our lives? In this solo memoir-theater piece\, performer and storyteller Steve Oskard imagines a life designed before we were born — nothing random\, a series of lessons on love. Structured around a recurring\, irreverent dialogue with God\, Steve traces real stories from his life\, moving between stand-up timing and eulogy-level intimacy to ask its audience the same question he’s asking himself: not “why did this happen to me\,” but “why did I create this?” Funny\, devastating\, and ultimately an argument for hope\, this is Steve’s solo show debut\, drawing on six decades of lived material.

SUMMARY:Boulder Jewish Film Festival: Dust Bowls and Jewish Souls Another Side of Woody Guthrie
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nOn the surface\, it seemed an unlikely match. Woody Guthrie was a rough-hewn balladeer from Oklahoma who tramped across the country singing his original protest songs. Aliza Greenblatt\, who arrived in America from Bessarabia in 1900\, was deeply involved in Zionist and Jewish cultural organizations and was already a prominent Yiddish poet when her daughter married the famous folk singer. United by a love of music and the political causes of social justice and anti-fascism\, the pair became fast friends and collaborators. Guthrie also fell in love with Jewish culture and observance\, as this surprising and engaging documentary from Steven Pressman (“The Levys of Monticello”) reveals through interviews with his children\, Arlo and Nora Guthrie. Documentary/89 minutes/In English/2026. Directed by Steven Pressman. \nJoin us for a pre-screening reception featuring the foods Aliza would have served her son-in-law in her Coney Island home.

SUMMARY:Boulder Jewish Film Festival: The Road Between Us The Ultimate Rescue
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nTuesday\, October 27 at 6:30 p.m. \nYou may remember the incredible news story that emerged shortly after the October 7 massacre. Hearing about the attack\, retired Israel Defense Force general Noam Tibon jumped in his jeep with his pistol and his wife and headed to Kibbutz Nahal Oz to rescue their son\, who was trapped in his safe room with his wife and children\, surrounded by gunfire. Even more incredibly\, he succeeded in rescuing them – and others. This harrowing and inspiring effort\, a tribute to parental devotion and personal courage\, makes for a real-life\, white-knuckle\, apolitical thriller that takes an unflinching look at the dangerous reality of life in Israel. \nDocumentary/95 minutes/In English/2026 \nDirected by Barry Avrich
