SUMMARY:John Lilly and the Earth Coincidence Control Office | June 10-14
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nJune 10-14 \nThe daring experimenter Dr. John C. Lilly dedicated his life to radical self-investigation and unlocking the mysteries of consciousness and communication. “My body is my laboratory” was the motto\, and his research on the language of dolphins and whales – as well as psychedelics and sensory deprivation – assured his own cult status in 20th-century pop culture as the basis for Ken Russel’s Altered States and Mike Nichols’s The Day of the Dolphin. SUMMARY:What Does That Nature Say to You | June 10-14
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nJune 10-14 \nDonghwa is a fledgling poet in his thirties. He rejects material aspirations and seeks to lead a life dedicated to truth and beauty. On a lazy afternoon\, he drives his girlfriend\, Junhee\, back to her parents’ home outside Seoul. In the driveway\, they run into her father\, who is strangely interested in Donghwa’s dinged up old car. He takes it for a spin around the block\, then invites Donghwa to stay and meet the family: him\, his wife\, who also writes poetry\, and Junhee’s reclusive sister\, who practices the gayageum\, a traditional string instrument. They end up wiling away the day together\, visiting a temple by the river\, climbing the hill near the house\, watching the sunset\, and\, sure enough\, imbibing drinks. Egged on by Junhee’s dad\, Donghwa gets progressively more drunk as the day advances. Finally\, he makes a fool of himself at dinner. Then everything begins to unravel for the poet: his relationship\, his art\, his revolutionary ideals. (Hong Sang-soo\, 2025\, South Korea\, 1:48\, NR)

SUMMARY:Mad Bill to Pay | June 17-21
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nJune 17-21 \nIn a tight-knit Dominican American community in The Bronx\, Rico (Juan Collado) is hustling his way through the summer\, selling bootleg ”nutcracker” cocktails out of a beach cooler and chasing girls without a care in the world. But when his teenage girlfriend\, Destiny (Destiny Checo)\, begins crashing at his place with his family\, turning their small apartment into a stage for their messy\, complicated young love\, it’s only a matter of time before they’re hit with the sobering reality of growing up too fast in a city that waits for no one. \nWriter-director Joel Alfonso Vargas turns his hometown into the heartbeat of his debut feature\, teaming up with discovery talent Collado and Checo\, to deliver a raw and deeply authentic look at life in The Bronx. With humor and grit\, Vargas paints a tender portrait of the chaos and charm of urban life\, and the ups and downs of youthful abandon when things take an unexpected turn. SUMMARY:Set the Table: Artist Talk
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nJoin us for an evening of conversation inside Set the Table: The Art of Nourishment\, a multi-gallery exhibition exploring the table as a site of connection\, culture\, and exchange. \nThis artist talk brings together participating artists for an intimate discussion on the ideas\, materials\, and processes behind their work. From food as memory and ritual to questions of ecology\, labor\, and community\, the conversation unpacks how each artist approaches nourishment in its many forms—cultural\, emotional\, ecological\, and creative. \nSet within the exhibition itself\, the talk invites audiences to engage directly with the artworks and the artists who made them\, offering deeper insight into the stories\, research\, and lived experiences that shape the work on view. \nFollowing the discussion\, guests are encouraged to stay\, explore the galleries\, and continue the conversation. \nAbout the Exhibition\nSet the Table: The Art of Nourishment spans all of the Dairy Arts Center’s gallery spaces\, examining the table as both a physical and symbolic space—where food\, art\, and community intersect. Through installation\, photography\, sculpture\, and interdisciplinary practices\, the exhibition considers how shared meals carry histories\, shape identities\, and reflect our relationships to land\, labor\, and one another.

SUMMARY:Everybody to Kenmure Street | June 24-27
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nJune 24-27 \nThe morning in Glasgow\, the first day of Eid\, started as any other. However\, when neighbors heard through community message networks that two local men were snatched up for deportation\, hundreds of people left their daily lives to rush down to Kenmure Street and put their bodies on the line. Though mostly strangers and with almost no planning\, this extremely diverse group organized themselves\, taking on essential roles to allow the collective to achieve their goal: protecting their own from government forces going after the most vulnerable among them. \nAn inspiring and profoundly moving portrait of what “normal” citizens are capable of in the face of injustice\, EVERYBODY TO KENMURE STREET reminds us of the power that is always inherent in the people. DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nA powerful new community theater production\, 13 Fires\, will bring the story of one of America’s great Black cultural districts to the stage in Boulder this season in celebration of Juneteenth. The play tells the story of Indiana Avenue in Indianapolis—once a thriving Black neighborhood filled with jazz clubs\, Black-owned businesses and the pioneering entrepreneur Madam C. J. Walker\, and legendary performers such as Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington. \nThen the neighborhood was almost completely wiped out. \n13 Fires explores how Indiana Avenue was dismantled during the expansion of Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis\, when property acquisitions\, eminent domain threats\, redlining\, and rising taxes forced families out of the homes and community they had built. Through intimate storytelling and memories of the Avenue’s golden era\, the play confronts the human cost of development and displacement. \nWhile the story unfolds in Indianapolis\, the production speaks directly to ongoing conversations about housing\, belonging\, and community change in Boulder and across Colorado. \nPresented during the Juneteenth season\, 13 Fires is a moving reflection on culture\, displacement\, and the enduring spirit of a people determined to keep their stories alive.

SUMMARY:Diamonds | June 24-28
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nJune 24-28 \nA film director gathers his favorite actresses\, those he worked with and those he loved. He wants to make a film about women but he doesn’t reveal much: he observes them\, takes cue\, until his imaginary throw them into another era\, in a past where the noise of the sewing machines fills a workplace handled and populated by women\, where men have minor and marginal roles and cinema can be told from another point of view: the one of costume. Between loneliness\, passions\, anxieties\, heartbreaking absence and unbreakable bonds\, reality and fiction permeate\, as well as the lives of the actresses and those of the characters\, the competition and the sisterhood\, the visible and the invisible. SUMMARY:The Firehouse Art Center presents Slay the Runway Designing Safe Spaces for LGBTQIA+ Youth
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nSlay the Runway is a Firehouse Art Center Fashion Design program offered at no cost to LGBTQIA+ youth and Youth allies to support self-expression. Our goal is to be a safe space for teens to explore their own true style in a Gender Expansive and supportive community. \nWith cohorts in Longmont and Boulder\, instructors start with simple projects that improve student sewing and design skills. As confidence builds\, students are challenged to develop their own self-identity as they create an outfit for the showcase. At the fashion show\, students unveil something they’ve created in their style and voice while surrounded by a community sharing their life experiences. In addition to garment construction and design\, participants will work with make-up artists and choreographers to refine their debuts. While there are fashion camps and sewing classes in the area\, no other local offerings address the issue of safe spaces for gender-expansive youth with this depth of creativity\, and it is the only program that is no cost to participants. \nSlay the Runway’s goal is to create an affirming and accessible space where creativity\, expression\, and positive self-image are celebrated. \nThis program is made possible by SCFD\, the City of Longmont\, OASOS\, CU Boulder\, your donations\, and the never ending enthusiasm and passion of the Slay Team!

SUMMARY:Set the Table: Immersive Dinner & Art Retreat
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nThe Set the Table exhibition brings together food\, art\, home\, and community\, exploring how the table serves as a universal locus for culture\, environment\, and the many ways we come together over food. \nThe Dairy Arts Center brings this exhibition to life with a very special event: Set the Table: Immersive Dinner and Art Retreat. On July 22\, guests are invited to an intimate farm-to-table dinner surrounded by the artworks of Set the Table\, where dining becomes a creative\, multi-sensory experience. \nThe evening will feature a beautifully crafted five-course meal by Forage Sisters\, a local\, women-owned farm-to-table catering company. Their menu offers a culinary journey through Colorado’s diverse peoples\, places\, and histories\, with each dish rooted in seasonal ingredients\, sustainable practices\, and the rich narratives embedded in the region’s foodways. \nThroughout the evening\, Boulder-based artist and founder of Schoolhouse Studios\, Kristen Abbott will guide guests through a mini artist retreat. Through a series of hands-on\, creative activities woven into the rhythm of the meal\, participants are invited to reflect\, play\, and embrace Abbott’s philosophy of “joyful experimentation.” \nThe tablescape itself is part of the experience—a feast for the senses that blurs the boundaries between installation\, performance\, and communal dining. An evening where the act of gathering becomes an artwork in itself. \nIncludes a five-course dinner\, one drink\, and all artist-led activities and materials. Bar will be available. \nMenu to be announced soon. Capacity is limited to 40 guests—reserve your spot for this special one-night experience. \nAbout Set the Table Exhibition:\nThe Set the Table exhibition\, at the Dairy Arts Center from the 15th of May to the 2nd of August\, explores the table as a site of connection—where food\, art\, and community intersect. Bringing together artists working across disciplines\, the exhibition considers how the table is a locus point of culture\, and how shared meals carry histories\, shape identities\, and reflect our relationships to the environment\, heritage\, and one another. \nAbout Forage Sisters:\nForage Sisters is a full service event and farm-to-table catering company\, born between two best friends whose passion lies in bringing people together through intentional food and thoughtful events. \nAbout Kristen Abbott:\nKristen Abbott is a mixed media painter and textile artist based in Boulder\, Colorado. Her practice moves between abstract painting and cyanotype textiles\, shaped through an experimental\, process-driven approach. \nIn her cyanotype work\, sunlight acts as both collaborator and catalyst\, imprinting organic forms onto hand-coated fabrics such as linen\, cotton\, and silk. Abbott often reworks these surfaces with additional materials\, building layered compositions that shift with the viewer’s perspective and gradually reveal new details over time. \nGuided by a philosophy of “joyful experimentation\,” her work embraces unpredictability and reflects an intuitive dialogue with place\, light\, and material—inviting viewers into quiet moments of reflection and discovery.

SUMMARY:Off the Page Exhibition Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:On View Aug 14 – Nov 1 | Opening Reception: Aug 14\, 5 – 8 \nThis group exhibition explores how contemporary artists engage with the written word\, literature\, media\, and storytelling\, examining language as both subject and material.
