SUMMARY:Boulder Environmental Nature Outdoors Film Festival: The Road To Patagonia
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\n\n\n\nThe Road to Patagonia is a stunning\, intimate and unflinching series of love letters within a documentary – firstly a love between two people\, and secondly between humanity and the Earth. We follow Matty Hannon on an incredible solo adventure\, to surf the west coast of the Americas by motorbike\, from the top of Alaska to the tip of Patagonia. But deep in the wilderness – alone with the wolves and the bears – the journeyer’s plans unexpectedly fall to pieces. After losing everything\, and on the cusp of quitting he meets the girl of his dreams\, a permaculture farmer named Heather Hillier who throws caution to the wind and sells her urban-farm to buy a bike of her own. Together riding south\, the duo meet with Zapatista rebels\, Amazonian shamans and Mapuche leaders whose salient words crack the adventurers’ cultural veneer\, leaving them with existential questions. \nThe 50\,000km surfing odyssey becomes beautifully complicated by their decision to downshift from motorcycles to horseback\, presenting a relational approach to the breathtaking landscapes and a host of challenges that ultimately become extremely rewarding. Hannon and Hillier succeed in beautifully capturing deeply human moments during the world-first expedition\, and the noticeable lack of camera-crew becomes The Road to Patagonia’s strength. The theme of deep ecology underpins the entire film\, visually communicated through exquisite cinematography and emotional verité sequences. Shot over 16 years\, the result is an adventurous exposé on the more-than-human world\, offering a physical and spiritual odyssey to better understand our place in Nature. \nWinner – Best Film and Best Documentary – Byron Bay International Film Festival \nWinner – Audience Choice Award – Florida Surf Film Festival \nWinner – Audience Choice Award – Melbourne Documentary Film Festival \nWinner – Jury Award – Honolulu Surf Film Festival \nYear: 2024 \nFilmmaker: Matty Hannon \nRuntime: 90 minutes \nPRODUCTION \n10 years \nWORLD PREMIERE \nByron Bay International F.F. \n\npresented by the Boulder Environmental Nature Outdoors Film Festival AND DAIRY ARTS CENTER.

SUMMARY:The Catamounts present Burning Bluebeard by Jay Torrence | JAN. 31 - FEB. 21
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nBlending comedy\, vaudeville\, clowning\, and meta-theatrical play\, BURNING BLUEBEARD reimagines the 1903 Chicago Iroquois Theatre fire from the perspective of the performers. The piece is both a reckoning and a love letter—an exploration of why we gather\, what we risk in live performance\, and how theater holds us together in moments of joy and catastrophe. \nOf the original Chicago production\, Newcity Stage wrote: \nBURNING BLUEBEARD represents the cumulative potential of theater as an art form: a poetic\, terrifying\, gut-buster tour de force that tells the audience exactly what this show is going to be—a deconstructed retelling of the 1903 Iroquois Theatre Fire from the eyes of the artists who worked on “Mr. Bluebeard\,” the production that sent the theater up in flames—even while building the sense that this time fate may be averted\, we might see the second act\, and the victims of that fire could be saved. \nDirected by Artistic Director Amanda Berg Wilson\, The Catamounts bring their signature immersive approach to the work\, transforming the Carsen Theater into a shared environment where audience and performers exist together inside the story. The result is a theatrical experience that is playful\, unsettling\, and deeply communal—inviting us to imagine what it means to care for one another in the dark. \nSunday performances on February 1\, 14\, and 21 will be followed by a community gathering. Tickets include food and drink\, with options available for those with and without dietary restrictions. \nTo donate to The Catamounts please visit https://www.coloradogives.org/organization/TheCatamounts

SUMMARY:The Choral | Jan 28 - Feb 1
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nJan 28 – Feb \nAs war rages on the Western Front\, the Choral Society in Ramsden\, Yorkshire has lost most of its men to the army. The Choral’s ambitious committee\, determined to press ahead\, decides to recruit local young males to swell their ranks. They must also engage a new chorus master\, and despite their suspicions that he has something to hide\, their best bet seems to be Dr. Henry Guthrie (Ralph Fiennes) – driven\, uncompromising\, and recently returned from a career in Germany. As conscription papers start to arrive\, the whole community discovers that the best response to the chaos that is laying waste to their lives is to make music together. SUMMARY:The Chronology of Water | Feb 4-8
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nBased on the beloved memoir by Lidia Yuknavitch and marking the directorial debut of Kristen Stewart\, The Chronology of Water is a raw and unflinching portrait of survival\, sexuality\, and self-invention. The film traces Lidia’s life from her earliest memories in the Pacific Northwest\, as a promising swimmer\, through fractured relationships\, near-motherhood\, addiction\, and encounters with artistic heroes. Told as a fluid memory wash\, the story transforms trauma into art\, embodying Yuknavitch’s defiant voice that made her work a modern cult classic. It is not only a chronicle of a woman becoming a writer\, but a visceral journey through the wreckage and resilience of a life lived against the grain. SUMMARY:Ain't No Back to a Merry-Go-Round | Feb 4-7
DESCRIPTION:TICKETSThis is the untold story of the first organized interracial civil rights protest in U.S. history. When 5 Howard University students sat on a Maryland carousel in 1960\, the arrests made headlines. When the white community near Glen Echo Amusement Park joined the Black students in picketing\, an extraordinary history-making partnership was born. The pickets attracted Nazis\, Congressman\, and a press avalanche. Picketing together over the sweltering summer led to partying together\, and union organizers mentored student activists. Ten 1961 Freedom Riders\, including Stokely Carmichael\, were incubated on the Glen Echo picket line\, and the carousel arrests were challenged in the Supreme Court case.  With never-before seen footage\, and immersive storytelling\, four living protesters rescue this forgotten history\, revealing the price\, and the power\, of heeding the impulse to activism. SUMMARY:Science on Screen® You Can't Miss What You Forget | Feb 8
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nScience on Screen® You Can’t Miss What You Forget \nDigital Memory and the Trouble with Letting Go \nWhat happens when we try to move on\, but our data won’t let us? \nFollowing Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind\, Dr. Anthony T. Pinter explores how our online “data shadows” preserve relationships\, identities\, and memories long after they’ve ended. \nAs our lives change\, the data that represents us often doesn’t\, leaving behind digital versions of ourselves that no longer fit who we are now. The potential for incongruence between us and our online “data shadows” can be problematic during life transitions\, or moments where our identities change significantly (e.g.\, coming out\, dying\, becoming a parent\, amongst others). We may move on\, but our data shadows follow; resurfacing data to make recommendations and encouraging us to reminisce. \nMuch like sorting through the physical objects of sentimental value\, our data must also be considered in the aftermath of life transitions; some want to delete everything\, others prefer to keep and revisit it. Drawing from research on romantic breakups and digital identity\, this talk looks at how people decide what to do with the data left behind after a relationship ends. From the framework of two curatorial philosophies – the archivist and revisionist – Dr. Pinter will discuss how people make decisions about what to do with their data\, how they enact those decisions\, and how to contend with the algorithmic curator. \nBlending themes of memory\, loss\, and control\, this Science on Screen conversation asks a deceptively simple question: in a world where forgetting isn’t entirely up to us\, what does it really mean to let go? \nIntroduction & film screening: 1:00 PM; Scientific Lecture 3:00 PM \nThis event is FREE for Dairy Arts Center Members as part of the Science on Screen® series \n  \nABOUT THE SPEAKER \nDR. ANTHONY T. PINTER is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Creative Technology & Design in the ATLAS Institute at the University of Colorado Boulder. He holds a BS and MS in Information Sciences and Technology from the Pennsylvania State University\, and an MS and PhD in Information Science from the University of Colorado Boulder. Dr. Pinter’s scholarship focuses on the experiences people have during life transitions and how those experiences are translated into data and online identities. He is specifically interested in how people make decisions about what to do with the data left behind after a romantic relationship ends\, how those decisions contribute to the formation of post-break-up identities\, and how to design systems to support that decision-making. Dr. Pinter’s work has appeared in top-tier journals and conferences such as the ACM Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing (CSCW). \n \n  \nABOUT THE FILM \n \nETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND \nAfter a painful breakup\, Clementine (Kate Winslet) undergoes a procedure to erase memories of her former boyfriend Joel (Jim Carrey) from her mind. When Joel discovers that Clementine is going to extremes to forget their relationship\, he undergoes the same procedure and slowly begins to forget the woman that he loved. Directed by Michel Gondry\, this visually arresting film explores the intricacy of relationships and the pain of loss. Recently named one of the 100 Best Movies of the 21st Century. (Michel Gondry\, 2004\, USA\, 1:48\, R)

SUMMARY:Natchez | Feb 11-15
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nNATCHEZ captures an unsettling clash between history and memory in a small Mississippi town; a layered mosaic of people contending with the weight of the past in a place where it is always present. Equal parts amusing and disturbing\, we journey through an antebellum tourist destination at a crossroads as it grapples with a deeply troubled history that is so thoroughly ingrained in its present\, we’re left to wonder if it’s actually past at all. Thank you for putting your heartfelt stories out there.”– Leah D. \n“Your performance was awe-inspiring. The entire performance of the 3 of you was one of the most moving emotionally I have ever experienced. From the depths of sorrow to the heights of laugher it flowed seamlessly and effortlessly. Ya’ll had the audience every second. Not a dry eye in the room. Brilliantly organized and choreographed. Your ending with the message of hope and love was more than perfect. Wow\, I’m still enthralled.” – Bruce M. \nPerforming: Katie Mason\, Elaina McMillan\, Andrea Sodergren \nAndrea Sodergren is a head strong powerhouse. Her drive for success is indisputable as evidenced by winning athletic competitions\, conquering businesses\, and jet-setting across the country for her wildly successful stand-up show\, Moms Unhinged. This show has helped Andrea find her tender side allowing her to practice strengthening her softness and vulnerability. \nElaina McMillan is all heart. This heart is her blessing to this world and her challenge to face\, as she unfolds into the fear and grief associated with slowly losing her mother to Alzheimer’s\, navigating her son’s fentanyl addiction\, and facing the new reality of a chronic illness. How can this hypnotist\, belief coach\, and comic make peace with pain when her tendency is to move away from it? Hear her journey as Elaina deepens in the trust that she can be with ALL of life and still keep her sweet heart open. \nKatie Mason IS soul. She infuses depth and intention into everything she does because she cannot be any other way. As a Poet Laureate and psychotherapist\, Katie embodies a commitment to both spiritual and personal growth. SUMMARY:Dairy Comedy In The Boe
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nIn a rare changeup\, just for February\, we are moving this showcase to Sunday at 7pm. \nAfter climbing the corporate ladder in his family’s South Florida car business\, Dave Williamson decided he liked making his customers smile\, but LOVED making them laugh. Since then\, he has excelled in almost every domestic Comedy Festival\, making the finals or “Best of The Fest” in the World Series of Comedy\, Boston Comedy Festival\, San Francisco Comedy Competition\, Big Sky Comedy Festival\, the SLO Comedy Festival\, and several others. Shortly after being named “Best Comedian in Miami” by the Miami New Times\, Dave packed up his family in a 25 foot travel trailer. They traveled with him while he performed all over North America\, eventually settling in Los Angeles after 18 months of touring. This trip was documented in a series of shorts by Nickelodeon.\nAli Kareem is a comedian based in Denver\, known for his sharp wit and engaging storytelling. Born in Baghdad\, Ali’s remarkable journey began as an interpreter for the U.S. Military in Iraq\, a role that eventually led to his U.S. citizenship. Today\, Ali continues to captivate audiences throughout Colorado\, delivering laughter with every performance.\nRebeca Trejo is a Denver-based standup comedian with a style once described by Josh Blue as “slam poetry with punchlines.” Born in Venezuela\, raised in Puerto Rico\, Rebeca migrated to the mainland in 2014 to escape both communism and colonialism\, so naturally she fled to…Louisiana. Now living in Denver\, Rebeca performs stand-up comedy in both English and Spanish. She hosts and produces Me Meo Comedy Show\, the only Spanish-language comedy showcase in Denver.\nHailing from Omaha\, Georgia Comstock has an uncanny gift for blending razor-sharp writing with an effortlessly disarming Midwestern charm that sneaks up on you- then floors you with laughter.\nZoe Rogers\nAnd your host\, the founder of the Boulder Comedy Festival\, Zoe Rogers.

SUMMARY:Marty O'Reilly\, with Antonio Lopez
DESCRIPTION:Marty O’Reilly’s music feels timeless\, like an old story told in a new way. His raw\, soulful voice and gritty guitar playing form the foundation of a sound rooted in Americana. Drawing inspiration from folk icons like Woody Guthrie\, blues legends like Howlin’ Wolf\, gospel pioneers like Sister Rosetta Thorpe\, and storytellers like Tom Waits\, Marty’s music captivates and connects audiences. \nHis live performances aren’t just concerts; they’re cathartic experiences. From soft and haunting moments to wild and electric highs\, his shows linger with you long after the lights come up. Marty’s songs dig deep into the human experience\, exploring themes of loneliness\, connection\, love\, and loss. Whether performing solo or with a full band\, he brings listeners into his world\, making them feel like part of the story. \nOver years of relentless touring and self-funded albums\, Marty has built a dedicated following. He’s shared the stage with Shakey Graves\, St. Paul & The Broken Bones\, and Sarah Jarosz and played festivals like Bottlerock and High Sierra Music Festival. Through it all\, he remains focused on creating music that is honest\, meaningful\, and profoundly real. \nAntonio Lopez is a quiet man with something to say. His music is like an onion\, each layer revealing more. His adept guitar work and composition skills are never used in a showy way but rather like the spices in a home-cooked meal. The result is a feast of emotions that delight the listener. His sound is modern folk rock with marimba swells and swooning fingerstyle guitar over a rock-solid rhythm section. Through the lens of his indigenous Chicano roots\, Lopez speaks many truths with gentle precision. SUMMARY:Suburban Fury | Feb 18-22
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nFeb 18-22 \nIn the early 1970s\, the FBI recruited Sara Jane Moore\, a conservative mother from the San Francisco suburbs\, to infiltrate leftist organizations—but her deeply radicalizing politics complicated her role. Moore takes us back through her recollections and perspectives leading up to the moment where she attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford\, and an eerie sense of déjà vu takes hold as the tightrope of tension—between the ideals of the US and the realities we are living through—becomes a stranglehold. (Robinson Devor\, 2025\, USA\, 1:58\, NR) \nFebruary 21\, 4:30pm screening: will be introduced by Executive Producer and Writer Robert Fink and Consulting Producer John W. Comerford.

SUMMARY:Black Futures in Art Exhibition Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:On View Feb 19 – March 29 | Opening Reception: Feb 20\, 5 – 8 PMFourth Annual Exhibition at the Dairy Arts Center | Curated by Adderly Grant-Lord \nNow in its fourth year at the Dairy Arts Center\, Black Futures in Art is a sweeping\, annual exhibition presented in celebration of Black History Month and in ongoing recognition of Black artistry and excellence year-round. Curated by Adderly Grant-Lord\, the exhibition brings together Black artists from Colorado and across the United States\, highlighting a broad range of practices\, voices\, and visions shaping contemporary art today. \nThis year’s exhibition is grounded in the theme “The excellence beneath our feet lives in our bones\,” a poetic meditation on legacy\, inheritance\, and resilience. The exhibition looks to what has been buried\, erased\, or overlooked in both past and present\, while honoring the enduring knowledge\, creativity\, and excellence that persist across generations. Through visual art\, the exhibition considers how memory\, land\, body\, and ancestry carry stories forward\, and how art becomes a conduit for community\, reflection\, and dialogue around the past\, present\, and future. \nBlack Futures in Art creates space for both celebration and critical engagement\, inviting audiences to witness how artists navigate history\, imagine possibility\, and cultivate collective understanding. The exhibition is accompanied by a robust slate of public programming\, including film screenings\, artist talks\, a lecture series\, hands-on workshops — and a special live musical performance at the Opening Reception. \n\n Opening Reception Musicians\nThe evening will feature a dynamic ensemble of Colorado-based musicians whose practices bridge classical training\, jazz lineage\, and contemporary experimentation: \nJoe Tabano (Trumpet) – A Denver-born and raised trumpet player\, Joe’s roots in jazz are shaped by mentorship connected to the lineage of Ron Miles. Having toured throughout the United States and Europe\, his sound blends traditional jazz sensibility with expansive improvisation and expressive depth. \nLiv Stephfano (Cello) – A Horizon High School student and accomplished young cellist\, Liv was selected for the district-wide Honors Concert and earned 2nd Chair among 15 top performers — a testament to her dedication and musical excellence. \nJosias Gilmore (Electric Guitar) – An accomplished guitarist with several years of performance experience\, Josias has played iconic stages including Red Rocks Amphitheatre\, Fillmore Auditorium\, and Paramount Theatre\, bringing versatility and stage presence to every performance. \nPhillip Cutler (Violin) – A Fort Collins–based violinist with over 13 years of training\, Phillip bridges classical discipline with contemporary exploration. Having participated in Colorado All-State Orchestras and studied under Mark Woods of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra\, his work blends orchestral precision with modern energy\, drawing from classical\, fiddle\, jazz\, and electronic influences. \nTogether\, these musicians create a layered sonic environment that echoes the exhibition’s themes of inheritance\, evolution\, and living legacy.

SUMMARY:Native Niches: Ecological Identity Exhibition Opening
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the opening reception for Native Niches; Ecological Identity. \n\nAn exhibition showcasing Traditional Ecological Knowledge that Indigenous people have fostered for millennia. Curated by students\, Asia Thunderhawk and Lucero Armendariz. On Display February 9th-April 5th\, 2026.\n\nEach of us inhabits a niche in the natural world\, each a member of our ecological communities with a responsibility to the landscape around us. This concept is best illustrated by the Traditional Ecological Knowledge that Indigenous people have fostered for millennia. Native Niches invites both the artist and guest to explore their position in ecological past\, present and future. It investigates how Indigenous cultures and experiences have been influenced by flora and fauna\, and envisions a future where people are no longer discrete from the web of life.\n\n\nLucero Armendariz-Klaasmeyer\n“Growing up surrounded by art\, science\, and the natural world\, Lucero has cultivated a multidisciplinary artistic identity. Working primarily with digital tools as well as oils to create illustrations and comics\, Lucero explores the speculative\, mundane\, and endearing aspects of our world. She hopes to use her skills for science communication in the future.”\n\nAsia Thunderhawk (Sicangu Lakota) is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Denver\, Colorado. Catalyzed by the many Lakota artists in her family\, she explores the relationship between North American ecology and indigenous art and culture. Her practice utilizes beadwork\, natural materials\, and indigenous american plants.
