SUMMARY:Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror | Oct. 29-Nov. 2
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \n  \nFrom humble origins as a London fringe theater play to its meteoric rise\, fall and resurrection as the biggest cult film of all time\, this is the definitive story of the Rocky Horror Show\, which was first released in theaters 50 years ago on September 26\, 1975. With intimate access to its creator Richard O’Brien and other major players such as Tim Curry\, Susan Sarandon and Lou Adler\, the documentary explores what makes the play and film so singular: Its groundbreaking and transgressive themes\, iconic performances and epic songs that took over popular culture. The cult phenomenon that sprung around it is unparalleled\, and created not only the midnight screenings which continue to this day\, but also a safe haven for those who ever felt different or marginalized. SUMMARY:Musical Vanguards at The Dairy presents Death of the Pugilist
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nThe ensemble piece “Death of The Pugilist: Or\, the famous battle of Jacob Burke & Blindman McGraw” is based on contemporary American novelist Daniel Mason’s short story. Set on the quayside docks amid the squalor of working-class life in 1820’s England\, the narrative follows a young man as he comes of age in a rough-and-tumble profession\, with music weaving the rich layers of emotional tapestry and humanity. The ensemble includes a narrator and four other musicians\, each a wonderfully eclectic individual steeped in a wide array of musical traditions. Drawing from the musical elements of contrapuntal Bach\, minimalistic Philip Glass\, blues and Irish folk music\, the production creates an experience of story and music that is deeply moving and truly unique.\nThe talented ensemble features narrator Jem Moore\, alongside four exceptional and award-winning musicians: MinTze Wu\, Eric Thorin\, Joy Adams\, and Blayne Chastain.

SUMMARY:How to Starve an Artist | Nov. 7-8
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nHow to Starve an Artist is a short devised theatre piece that looks at the present conditions in this ever-changing world and asks one simple question: Can the artist endure? A group of eight theatre-makers has come together to conduct interviews with Colorado-based Gen Z artists (age 18-27) seeking to answer this question and turn those answers into theatre. This performance includes direct quotes\, inspired poetry\, shadow puppetry\, original music\, and creative movement to explore the issues young artists encounter every day. This collective’s goal is to make you\, the audience\, reimagine what a “starving artist” is\, see how much effort art demands from the artist\, understand why artists make art\, and how to “feed” them.

SUMMARY:Boulder Environmental Nature Outdoors Film Festival: Preserved
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nIn an era of wildfires\, drought\, and species decline\, Vermejo is proof that restoration is possible. And it’s a blueprint for where it can happen next.  \n\n\n\nThis land\, a 560\,000-acre reserve in northern New Mexico that has been home to Indigenous communities\, roaming bison\, elk\, and antelope since time immemorial\, has seen civilizations rise and fall. In the 19th century\, mining came\, leaving behind landscapes stripped by time and scarred by industry. But now\, something remarkable is happening. \nIn 1996\, media mogul Ted Turner bought this land. Working with science and nature\, Vermejo’s passionate stewards helped restore the land to a place of thriving biodiversity and teeming life—from bison and wildcats to urban dwellers escaping to the outdoors. \nShot over 130+ days in this breathtaking landscape\, PRESERVED unveils the hidden sanctuary and its unseen wildlife behaviors—bears stealing mountain lion kills\, microscopic worlds thriving in water-filled potholes\, and animals adapting to a changing planet. Scientists\, ranchers\, and leading conservationists have come together to help achieve the seemingly impossible—from North America’s largest trout restoration to the return of beaver\, elk\, and bison. Vermejo\, deep with discovery and abundant human history\, is a bellwether for what’s possible everywhere. \nYear: 2024 | Filmmaker: Ben Clark | Runtime: 94 minutes \nPresented by the Boulder Environmental Nature Outdoors Film Festival AND DAIRY ARTS CENTER. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nQ&A with director Ben Clark \n\n\n\n\n\nDirector Ben Clark is an adventure filmmaker and former Himalayan ski mountaineer. He directed The Snowman Trek\, a documentary on Bhutanese and ultrarunners’ high-altitude collaboration\, which screened in 400 theaters. The youngest person to lead a successful Everest expedition\, Ben has filmed stories around the world highlighting endurance\, climate\, and exploration. He is a member of the Protect Our Winters Creative Alliance. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf You Love The Land\, It Loves You Back

SUMMARY:It Was Just an Accident | Nov 19-23
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nNov 19-23 \nVahid\, an unassuming mechanic\, has a chance encounter with Eghbal\, a man he strongly suspects to be his former sadistic jailhouse captor. Panicked\, Vahid gathers several former prisoners\, all abused by that same captor\, to try and confirm Eghbal’s identity. As the bickering group drives around Tehran with the captive\, they must confront how far to take matters into their own hands with their presumed tormentor. From master filmmaker Jafar Panahi comes a searing moral thriller that engages with complex ideas about the uncertainty of the truth and the choice between revenge and mercy\, as Panahi turns his personal dissonance into a profound and galvanizing work of art. (Jafar Panahi\, 2025\, Iran\, 1:45\, PG-13) \nTALK BACK: Join us after the film on November 20th for a Talkback with Firuzeh Saidi.

SUMMARY:Continuum Opening Party
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nCelebrate the opening of the Continuum exhibition with an evening of art\, music\, and connection. Enjoy a live DJ set by Internaleyes\, drinks\, and conversation as you explore a powerful exhibition reflecting on the cycles of life\, death\, aging\, and the enduring threads that connect us all. \nA continuum is a continuous range or series where things blend seamlessly into one another — like the shifting colors of a rainbow\, where no single shade ends and another begins. We often divide life into stages — youth\, adulthood\, old age\, life\, and death — as though separate from nature’s cycles. But everything moves in loops: death nourishes new life\, time is both linear and infinite\, and aging is only the visible surface of a more fluid human experience. \nContinuum explores how art can spark connection\, conversation\, and community around these shared truths — the knowns and unknowns of living\, dying\, and everything in between. The exhibition brings together artists of different generations and disciplines to explore themes of identity\, memory\, selfhood\, the body\, grief\, loss\, family histories\, and spirituality. At its core\, Continuum is about love — love that crosses time\, generations\, and boundaries both real and imagined. \nAbout the Music: Internal Eyes \n\nComing to fruition in the beginning of 2025\, Internal Eyes is a producer\, song-writer\, and DJ based out of Boulder\, CO. He draws inspiration from the surrounding beauty of mountainous terrain\, deep blue skies\, and nature’s inhabitants. Flowing water\, birds\, crickets\, and natural instruments embody the sound of Internal Eyes\, supported by deep low ends and atmospheric melodies. Originally from the East Coast\, Internal Eyes has a foundational background in hip-hop and house music genres\, blending the two with an organic feel to create a sound that captures attention and brings life to textural landscapes.\n\nExhibiting Artists & Spaces \nMcMahon Gallery: Kaori Takamura\, Shapes of Ephemera\nHand Rudy & Caruso Galleries: Kristen Letts Kovak\nPolly Addison Gallery: Lina Pin\nDairy Lobby: Laura Mackie\nMacMillan Gallery: The Continuum Intergenerational Arts Project\nEmbassy Suites Hotel Boulder: Lisa Berley \nFree and open to the public!
