SUMMARY:Motus Theater Presents: No Contract by Kirsten Wilson
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\n \n“No Contract” is a one-woman show exploring a mother’s request not to endure dementia. It asks: “is there a way to have dementia without tragedy\, when ‘to be or not to be’ is always the question?” \nCreated by Kirsten Wilson in honor of her mother and loved ones everywhere\, experiencing or caring for people with dementia. \n“No Contract” is a one-woman show by Kirsten Wilson about her mother’s dementia –Marie Wilson\, founder of ‘Take Our Daughters to Work Day\,’ LGBTQ+ leader\, author\, and equity-based feminist. \nThe dramatic ‘contract’ at the heart of this two-act performance is her mother’s request to be killed if she loses her mind. The production blends autobiographical storytelling\, “Hamlet\,” “King Lear\,” karaoke\, and audience engagement to explore the complex tension between choosing life and death—the “to be and not to be” of assisted suicide after a dementia diagnosis. \nIn “No Contract\,” Wilson uses humor & heart to prevent both the performance & her mother’s life from becoming a Lear-like tragedy. As Wilson says in Act One\, “My mother’s life was always supposed to be a romantic comedy\, a 1950’s musical\, except with lesbians dancing in the street. I will not let it turn toward tragedy.” \n*Note Wednesday\, 9/30/26 is a show for immunocompromised people. This show provides the following: Audience capacity is at 30% to provide space for two empty seats between audience members. KN95 masks must be worn by performers and audience members. Air filtration used. 6 feet of space between performers and front row. 6pm performance. See separate Dairy ticketing page to signup. \n**Note Saturday\, 10/3/26 is an all-day workshop and performance: \nSaturday\, Oct. 3rd\, “No Contract” Dementia\, Reflection and Writing Workshop with Kirsten Wilson. Take a day-long deep dive into the impact of caring for family members with dementia or negotiating your own fears of losing your mind with celebrated facilitator and artist Kirsten Wilson. This is an opportunity to gather in community to use the performance to launch your own reflections and writings on the impact of dementia and fears associated with aging. The morning will begin with a performance of Act I\, followed by personal reflections\, writing and discussion on dementia. After a shared lunch within small reflections groups\, a performance of Act II\, with a facilitated dialogue\, writing exercises and reflections. No skill as a writer necessary\, just willingness to courageously explore caregiving\, our mortality\, and dementia in community. (Lunch included in workshop fee). See separate ticketing page to sign up. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Motus Theater Presents: “No Contract” - Dementia\, Reflection and Writing Workshop with Kirsten Wilson
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nABOUT THE WORKSHOP: \nTake a day-long deep dive into the impact of caring for family members with dementia or negotiating your own fears of losing your mind with celebrated facilitator and artist Kirsten Wilson. This is an opportunity to gather in community to use the performance “No Contract” to launch your own reflections and writings on the impact of dementia and fears associated with aging. \nThe morning will begin with a performance of Act I\, followed by personal reflections\, writing\, and discussion on dementia. After a shared lunch within small reflection groups\, a performance of Act II\, with a facilitated dialogue\, writing exercises\, and reflections. No skill as a writer necessary\, just the willingness to courageously explore caregiving\, our mortality\, and dementia in community. (Lunch included in workshop fee). \nABOUT THE PERFORMANCE: \n“No Contract” is a one-woman show exploring a mother’s request not to endure dementia. It asks: “is there a way to have dementia without tragedy\, when ‘to be or not to be’ is always the question?” \nCreated by Kirsten Wilson in honor of her mother and loved ones everywhere\, experiencing or caring for people with dementia. \n“No Contract” is a one-woman theatrical work written and performed by Motus Theater’s artistic director\, Kirsten Wilson\, about dementia in relation to her mother\, Marie Wilson—founder of ‘Take Our Daughters to Work Day\,’ LGBTQ+ leader\, author\, and equity-based feminist. \nThe dramatic ‘contract’ at the heart of this two-act performance is a mother’s request to be killed if she loses her mind to dementia. I will not let it turn toward tragedy.” \nThrough Wilson’s advocacy amid systemic failures in elder care\, the piece invites caregivers\, LGBTQ+ residents\, and aging Coloradans to see their experiences reflected and engage in community dialogue on equity\, dignity\, and end-of-life care.

SUMMARY:COmpass REsonance: CELLO MONK with Camden Shaw and CORE
DESCRIPTION:SUBSCRIBE\n TICKETS\nCamden Shaw\, cellist of world-renowned Dover Quartet\, joins CORE performing four roles in a single concert—orchestral cellist\, chamber musician\, soloist in an unaccompanied suite\, and concerto soloist. This program compares and contrasts the work of father and son: Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1715-1788). It also compares late-Baroque style with early-Classical style\, including the remarkable visceral virtuosity of the orchestra and soloist in CPE Bach’s Cello Concerto in A Minor. \nAdditional soloists in this program include flutist Ysmael Reyes\, a COmpass REsonance member and longtime artist of Boulder Bach Festival’s ensembles. He is joined by guest artist Katy Wherry\, performing as flute soloist with COmpass REsonance for the first time. CORE’s Music Director Zachary Carrettin joins them on violin—performing the much-adored Brandenburg Concerto #4.\nProgram:\nBrandenburg Concerto #4 in G Major\, BWV1049 by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)\nCello Suite #6 in D Major\, BWV1012 by J.S. Bach\nIntermission\nTrio Sonata in B Minor\, H567 by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1715-1788)\nConcerto for Cello and Strings in A Minor\, Wq170 by C.P.E. Bach \nApproximate run time: 110 minutes total\, including 20-minute intermission \nCamden Shaw is cellist of the Dover Quartet\, called “one of the greatest quartets in the last 100 years” by BBC Music Magazine. Mr. Shaw has performed ancient and new music in the world’s great concert halls\, including New York’s Carnegie Hall\, London’s Wigmore Hall\, and the Berlin Philharmonie. He was featured in STRAD Magazine’s Masterclass Series\, has presented sought-after content for Tonebase in addition to his own CelloMonk Instagram platform\, and joined the faculty at the Curtis Institute of Music in 2020. \nEvery soloist that collaborates with CORE brings unique artistry\, with each aspect of the collaboration conceived to offer a special experience to Boulder audiences. CORE’s co-directors performed with Mr. Shaw on stages in Texas and California and found his musicianship to be infectious—brilliant\, inspired\, and complete. COmpass REsonance artists are looking forward to this 2026/27 season opening concert! \n\n

SUMMARY:Henhouse Prowlers with Eric Wigss and Dylan McCarthy
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nMusic at the Dairy presents Henhouse Prowlers – We Are All Just Human Beings Tour with special guests Eric Wiggs and Dylan McCarthy of Jake Leg \nWith many of their wildest dreams strung across more than two decades together\, the Henhouse Prowlers’ sight remains fixed on the future. Ever constant in the group’s enthralling performances is their ability to showcase their passion for both their craft and our shared humanity. Their latest record\, ‘Unravel\,’ produced by Dark Shadow Recording’s Stephen Mougin (Sam Bush Band) underscores the quartet’s resistance towards being contained\, some tunes expressing a modern Americana feel with others nodding to classic country and bluegrass standards. On this offering\, their trademark four-part harmonies have matured in tone and sincerity\, their picking ferocious as ever. However\, it’s impossible to ensnare the Prowlers’ lifeblood in 45 minutes and 12 tracks. Each member’s skills of storytelling\, compelling songwriting\, and intricate instrumentation shine through their onstage performances. Incorporating an inspiring narrative and bluegrass takes on international tunes from their travels\, their live show will captivate minds and capture hearts. The group’s many life-changing encounters as cultural diplomats across the globe have shaped their worldview and bolstered the bridges they establish between cultures\, a main function of the band. \nhenhouseprowlers.com

SUMMARY:What is Ekphrasis? Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nWhat is ekphrasis? While the word may sound unfamiliar\, it describes one of the oldest and most generative writing practices: responding to visual art through language. \nFireside Ink Writers Workshop is thrilled to partner with Off the Page at the Dairy Arts Center for an immersive writing workshop that explores the art of ekphrasis. Together\, we’ll examine compelling examples from poetry and fiction\, discuss how writers translate visual experiences into language\, and discover the many ways artwork can spark stories\, memories\, and creative insight. \nSurrounded by the artworks of Off the Page in the McMahon Gallery\, participants will engage in guided writing exercises inspired by the exhibition. Through close observation\, interpretation\, and imaginative response\, you’ll experiment with new approaches to describing\, questioning\, and reimagining what you see. \nWhether you’re a seasoned writer or simply curious about creative expression\, this workshop offers an opportunity to deepen your relationship with both art and language. You’ll leave with fresh writing\, a greater understanding of ekphrasis\, and new ways of experiencing visual art through the written word. \nNo prior writing experience is necessary. Writers of all genres and experience levels are welcome. \nAbout the Instructor \nLoie Rawding is the author of the ekphrastic novel Tight Little Vocal Cords (KERNPUNKT)\, a finalist for the Big Other Book Awards and one of Lambda Literary’s Most Anticipated Books of 2020. She is an editor\, creative mentor\, and teaching artist who works with arts organizations across the country. \nLoie grew up on an island off the coast of Maine. A recovering actor and dancer\, she studied performing arts in Boston and worked in publishing in New York before earning an MFA from the University of Colorado. She is certified in Narrative Medicine through Columbia University and collaborates with medical practitioners to improve patient outcomes through the power of storytelling. She is currently at work on her third novel. \nLearn more at: www.loierawding.com \nAbout Fireside Ink Writers Workshop \nFounded in 2024 by Loie Rawding and Brenda Kahn\, Fireside Ink Writers Workshop was created to build a supportive writing community in the heart of Boulder County. Today\, Fireside Ink offers multi-level\, multi-genre workshops\, literary readings\, events\, and private mentorship opportunities for writers of all backgrounds and experience levels. \nWhether crafting a memoir\, exploring fiction or poetry\, or discovering the joy of self-expression for the first time\, writers find the guidance\, encouragement\, and community needed to transform ideas into meaningful stories. \nLearn more at: www.firesideinkwriters.org

SUMMARY:Music at the Dairy presents Jack Hadley Trio: Daybreak in Alabama\, The Langston Hughes Project
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nJack Hadley’s 2020 release is “Daybreak In Alabama – The Langston Hughes Project.” The guitarist/singer has written nine songs based on the poetry of Langston Hughes\, a leading figure of the Harlem Renaissance. Here we have universal themes of spirituality\, oppression\, resilience\, love and hope. The original concept was to write modern roots music that would pay homage to the Black American experience of the early-mid 20th century. This music is steeped in the blues with a nod to folk\, jazz\, blues-rock and soul music.
