SUMMARY:Musical Vanguards at the Dairy Presents the Matt Flinner Trio and Martin Gilmore
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nMatt Flinner (mandolin)\, Ross Martin (guitar) and Eric Thorin first formed the Matt Flinner Trio in 2006\, and they have become known as an adventurous group that often writes music on the day of any given show\, and performs it that same night. Their willingness to take risks and explore the boundaries of what a bluegrass trio can do\, combined with their love of traditional mountain music of Appalachia\, creates a unique sound in the world of modern bluegrass that shows touches of old-time\, jazz and chamber music. Their new CD on Compass Records\, “Traveling Roots\,” showcases not only their virtuosity\, but their compositional sensibility as well. \n“Flinner continues his reign as perhaps the most exciting and creative mandolin player on the scene today.”—Jazz Times \n“(Flinner) blurs the lines between jazz and bluegrass\, traditional and avant-garde.”—Associated Press \n“Flinner provides the next logical evolutionary step to David Grisman’s unique ‘Dawg’ style\, and does it with a nod to the past and a vision of the future.”—Bluegrass Now \nOpening the show is Martin Gilmore\, singer\, songwriter\, and multi-instrumentalist from Denver\, Colorado. His music bridges traditional folk\, bluegrass\, and original compositions. His rich vocals and masterful guitar playing bring both authenticity and innovation to every song he performs. With a deep respect for musical traditions and a penchant for creative storytelling\, Gilmore has built a reputation as a compelling artist in the American roots music scene.\n• 2025 Kerrville New Folk Winner\n• 2024 Telluride Troubadour\n• 2024 Rocky Mtn Folks Showcase

SUMMARY:Buddhist Arts and Film Festival 2025: Welcome\, Opening Performance\, short film\, "The Dalai Lama's Gift\," Q&A
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\n ALL ACCESS PASS\nWelcome\, Nawang Khechog performance\, short film\, trailer and film “The Dalai Lama’s Gift”\, followed by panel discussion and Q&A with director Ed Bastian\, and special guests HE Tulku Yeshi Rinpoche and Nawang Khechog. \nTHE DALAI LAMA’S GIFT\, director Ed Bastian \nIn 1982 \, a Buddhist monk teaching at the University of Madison\, Wisconsin\, made the bold request of the Dalai Lama to come and perform a rare ritual\, never before done outside of India or Tibet: the Kalachakra\, among the highest of the Buddhist tantric teachings. In just a few months\, with a team of dedicated students\, and cameras rolling\, they constructed a temple and organized an event for over a thousand spiritual seekers\, in a cornfield outside Madison. The incredible footage was tucked away in the Smithsonian vaults\, until now. What unfolds is the story of a powerful ritual\, its impact on the people that made it happen\, and the meaning behind this ancient initiation. 76 minutes. \nThe film will be followed by a discussion and Q&A with musician Nawang Khechog and director Ed Bastian.
