SUMMARY:Everybody to Kenmure Street | June 24-27
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nJune 24-27 \nThe morning in Glasgow\, the first day of Eid\, started as any other. However\, when neighbors heard through community message networks that two local men were snatched up for deportation\, hundreds of people left their daily lives to rush down to Kenmure Street and put their bodies on the line. Though mostly strangers and with almost no planning\, this extremely diverse group organized themselves\, taking on essential roles to allow the collective to achieve their goal: protecting their own from government forces going after the most vulnerable among them. \nAn inspiring and profoundly moving portrait of what “normal” citizens are capable of in the face of injustice\, EVERYBODY TO KENMURE STREET reminds us of the power that is always inherent in the people. SUMMARY:13 Fires | June 24 - 26
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nA powerful new community theater production\, 13 Fires\, will bring the story of one of America’s great Black cultural districts to the stage in Boulder this season in celebration of Juneteenth. The play tells the story of Indiana Avenue in Indianapolis—once a thriving Black neighborhood filled with jazz clubs\, Black-owned businesses and the pioneering entrepreneur Madam C. J. Walker\, and legendary performers such as Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington. \nThen the neighborhood was almost completely wiped out. \n13 Fires explores how Indiana Avenue was dismantled during the expansion of Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis\, when property acquisitions\, eminent domain threats\, redlining\, and rising taxes forced families out of the homes and community they had built. Through intimate storytelling and memories of the Avenue’s golden era\, the play confronts the human cost of development and displacement. \nWhile the story unfolds in Indianapolis\, the production speaks directly to ongoing conversations about housing\, belonging\, and community change in Boulder and across Colorado. \nPresented during the Juneteenth season\, 13 Fires is a moving reflection on culture\, displacement\, and the enduring spirit of a people determined to keep their stories alive.

SUMMARY:Diamonds | June 24-28
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nJune 24-28 \nA film director gathers his favorite actresses\, those he worked with and those he loved. He wants to make a film about women but he doesn’t reveal much: he observes them\, takes cue\, until his imaginary throw them into another era\, in a past where the noise of the sewing machines fills a workplace handled and populated by women\, where men have minor and marginal roles and cinema can be told from another point of view: the one of costume. Between loneliness\, passions\, anxieties\, heartbreaking absence and unbreakable bonds\, reality and fiction permeate\, as well as the lives of the actresses and those of the characters\, the competition and the sisterhood\, the visible and the invisible. SUMMARY:The Firehouse Art Center presents Slay the Runway Designing Safe Spaces for LGBTQIA+ Youth
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nSlay the Runway is a Firehouse Art Center Fashion Design program offered at no cost to LGBTQIA+ youth and Youth allies to support self-expression. Our goal is to be a safe space for teens to explore their own true style in a Gender Expansive and supportive community. \nWith cohorts in Longmont and Boulder\, instructors start with simple projects that improve student sewing and design skills. As confidence builds\, students are challenged to develop their own self-identity as they create an outfit for the showcase. At the fashion show\, students unveil something they’ve created in their style and voice while surrounded by a community sharing their life experiences. In addition to garment construction and design\, participants will work with make-up artists and choreographers to refine their debuts. While there are fashion camps and sewing classes in the area\, no other local offerings address the issue of safe spaces for gender-expansive youth with this depth of creativity\, and it is the only program that is no cost to participants. \nSlay the Runway’s goal is to create an affirming and accessible space where creativity\, expression\, and positive self-image are celebrated. \nThis program is made possible by SCFD\, the City of Longmont\, OASOS\, CU Boulder\, your donations\, and the never ending enthusiasm and passion of the Slay Team!

SUMMARY:Set the Table: Immersive Dinner & Art Retreat
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nThe Set the Table exhibition brings together food\, art\, home\, and community\, exploring how the table serves as a universal locus for culture\, environment\, and the many ways we come together over food. \nThe Dairy Arts Center brings this exhibition to life with a very special event: Set the Table: Immersive Dinner and Art Retreat. On July 22\, guests are invited to an intimate farm-to-table dinner surrounded by the artworks of Set the Table\, where dining becomes a creative\, multi-sensory experience. \nThe evening will feature a beautifully crafted five-course meal by Forage Sisters\, a local\, women-owned farm-to-table catering company. Their menu offers a culinary journey through Colorado’s diverse peoples\, places\, and histories\, with each dish rooted in seasonal ingredients\, sustainable practices\, and the rich narratives embedded in the region’s foodways. \nThroughout the evening\, Boulder-based artist and founder of Schoolhouse Studios\, Kristen Abbott will guide guests through a mini artist retreat. Through a series of hands-on\, creative activities woven into the rhythm of the meal\, participants are invited to reflect\, play\, and embrace Abbott’s philosophy of “joyful experimentation.” \nThe tablescape itself is part of the experience—a feast for the senses that blurs the boundaries between installation\, performance\, and communal dining. An evening where the act of gathering becomes an artwork in itself. \nIncludes a five-course dinner\, one drink\, and all artist-led activities and materials. Bar will be available. \nMenu to be announced soon. Capacity is limited to 40 guests—reserve your spot for this special one-night experience. \nAbout Set the Table Exhibition:\nThe Set the Table exhibition\, at the Dairy Arts Center from the 15th of May to the 2nd of August\, explores the table as a site of connection—where food\, art\, and community intersect. Bringing together artists working across disciplines\, the exhibition considers how the table is a locus point of culture\, and how shared meals carry histories\, shape identities\, and reflect our relationships to the environment\, heritage\, and one another. \nAbout Forage Sisters:\nForage Sisters is a full service event and farm-to-table catering company\, born between two best friends whose passion lies in bringing people together through intentional food and thoughtful events. \nAbout Kristen Abbott:\nKristen Abbott is a mixed media painter and textile artist based in Boulder\, Colorado. Her practice moves between abstract painting and cyanotype textiles\, shaped through an experimental\, process-driven approach. \nIn her cyanotype work\, sunlight acts as both collaborator and catalyst\, imprinting organic forms onto hand-coated fabrics such as linen\, cotton\, and silk. Abbott often reworks these surfaces with additional materials\, building layered compositions that shift with the viewer’s perspective and gradually reveal new details over time. \nGuided by a philosophy of “joyful experimentation\,” her work embraces unpredictability and reflects an intuitive dialogue with place\, light\, and material—inviting viewers into quiet moments of reflection and discovery.

SUMMARY:Motus Theater Presents: No Contract by Kirsten Wilson
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\n \n“No Contract” is a one-woman show exploring a mother’s request not to endure dementia. It asks: “is there a way to have dementia without tragedy\, when ‘to be or not to be’ is always the question?” \nCreated by Kirsten Wilson in honor of her mother and loved ones everywhere\, experiencing or caring for people with dementia. \n“No Contract” is a one-woman show by Kirsten Wilson about her mother’s dementia –Marie Wilson\, founder of ‘Take Our Daughters to Work Day\,’ LGBTQ+ leader\, author\, and equity-based feminist. \nThe dramatic ‘contract’ at the heart of this two-act performance is her mother’s request to be killed if she loses her mind. The production blends autobiographical storytelling\, “Hamlet\,” “King Lear\,” karaoke\, and audience engagement to explore the complex tension between choosing life and death—the “to be and not to be” of assisted suicide after a dementia diagnosis. \nIn “No Contract\,” Wilson uses humor & heart to prevent both the performance & her mother’s life from becoming a Lear-like tragedy. As Wilson says in Act One\, “My mother’s life was always supposed to be a romantic comedy\, a 1950’s musical\, except with lesbians dancing in the street. I will not let it turn toward tragedy.” \n*Note Wednesday\, 9/30/26 is a show for immunocompromised people. This show provides the following: Audience capacity is at 30% to provide space for two empty seats between audience members. KN95 masks must be worn by performers and audience members. Air filtration used. 6 feet of space between performers and front row. 6pm performance. See separate Dairy ticketing page to signup. \n**Note Saturday\, 10/3/26 is an all-day workshop and performance: \nSaturday\, Oct. 3rd\, “No Contract” Dementia\, Reflection and Writing Workshop with Kirsten Wilson. Take a day-long deep dive into the impact of caring for family members with dementia or negotiating your own fears of losing your mind with celebrated facilitator and artist Kirsten Wilson. This is an opportunity to gather in community to use the performance to launch your own reflections and writings on the impact of dementia and fears associated with aging. The morning will begin with a performance of Act I\, followed by personal reflections\, writing and discussion on dementia. After a shared lunch within small reflections groups\, a performance of Act II\, with a facilitated dialogue\, writing exercises and reflections. No skill as a writer necessary\, just willingness to courageously explore caregiving\, our mortality\, and dementia in community. (Lunch included in workshop fee). This program compares and contrasts the work of father and son: Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1715-1788). It also compares late-Baroque style with early-Classical style\, including the remarkable visceral virtuosity of the orchestra and soloist in CPE Bach’s Cello Concerto in A Minor. \nAdditional soloists in this program include flutist Ysmael Reyes\, a COmpass REsonance member and longtime artist of Boulder Bach Festival’s ensembles. He is joined by guest artist Katy Wherry\, performing as flute soloist with COmpass REsonance for the first time. CORE’s Music Director Zachary Carrettin joins them on violin—performing the much-adored Brandenburg Concerto #4.\nProgram:\nBrandenburg Concerto #4 in G Major\, BWV1049 by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)\nCello Suite #6 in D Major\, BWV1012 by J.S. Bach\nIntermission\nTrio Sonata in B Minor\, H567 by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1715-1788)\nConcerto for Cello and Strings in A Minor\, Wq170 by C.P.E. Bach \nApproximate run time: 110 minutes total\, including 20-minute intermission \nCamden Shaw is cellist of the Dover Quartet\, called “one of the greatest quartets in the last 100 years” by BBC Music Magazine. Mr. Shaw has performed ancient and new music in the world’s great concert halls\, including New York’s Carnegie Hall\, London’s Wigmore Hall\, and the Berlin Philharmonie. He was featured in STRAD Magazine’s Masterclass Series\, has presented sought-after content for Tonebase in addition to his own CelloMonk Instagram platform\, and joined the faculty at the Curtis Institute of Music in 2020. \nEvery soloist that collaborates with CORE brings unique artistry\, with each aspect of the collaboration conceived to offer a special experience to Boulder audiences. CORE’s co-directors performed with Mr. Shaw on stages in Texas and California and found his musicianship to be infectious—brilliant\, inspired\, and complete. COmpass REsonance artists are looking forward to this 2026/27 season opening concert! \n\n

SUMMARY:The Human Animal Exhibition Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Nov 13 – Jan 31 | Opening Reception: Nov 13\, 5 – 8 \nThis exhibition explores how conceptual artists use imagery of animals\, creatures\, and “the other” to reflect on human nature and the breadth of human experience. Through large-scale installations and sweeping conceptual works\, the exhibition examines the symbolic power of the nonhuman as a mirror through which social\, political\, and psychological realities are revealed. \nFocusing on the figure of the animal—and the idea of the “human as other”—the exhibition interrogates themes of aggression\, dominance\, fear\, and control\, questioning the often false or ironic divide drawn between humanity and the natural world. What we project onto animals and imagined creatures frequently exposes our own instincts\, anxieties\, and contradictions\, revealing how closely intertwined human behavior is with the forces we claim to stand apart from. \nServing as a launching point for dialogue around American legacy\, the exhibition opens space for conversation on politics\, history\, and contemporary cultural and social issues. By situating animal imagery within broader conceptual frameworks\, the works challenge viewers to reconsider narratives of power\, violence\, and belonging\, and to reflect on what it means to be human in relation to the world we inhabit. \nParticipating artists: Jessica Teckermeyer\, Michael Brohman\, Tricia Waddel\, Xan McKenna\, Bailey Anderson\, Creative Nations
