SUMMARY:Glowing Goose Productions presents Fiddler on the Roof | Jan. 15-25
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nFiddler on the Roof has captured the imagination of cultures around the world for decades with its universal theme of tradition confronting modernity. It has been a shared dream for Sarah Nowak (director) and Rabbi Marc Soloway (Tevye) to produce this show\, and this feels like the right moment. \nAs we see a dramatic rise in antisemitism and a world filled with dehumanization\, bigotry and violence\, Anatevka is both a specific\, particular time and space in Jewish history and also any place where people have been persecuted and driven out of their lands. The particular and the universal are captured in this story\, which we hope to tell in a way that connects us to the past\, present and future. \nThis musical is presented by Glowing Goose Productions in partnership with Congregation Bonai Shalom\, Congregation Nevei Kodesh\, and the Boulder JCC.

SUMMARY:The Catamounts present Burning Bluebeard by Jay Torrence | JAN. 31 - FEB. 21
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nBlending comedy\, vaudeville\, clowning\, and meta-theatrical play\, BURNING BLUEBEARD reimagines the 1903 Chicago Iroquois Theatre fire from the perspective of the performers. The piece is both a reckoning and a love letter—an exploration of why we gather\, what we risk in live performance\, and how theater holds us together in moments of joy and catastrophe. \nOf the original Chicago production\, Newcity Stage wrote: \nBURNING BLUEBEARD represents the cumulative potential of theater as an art form: a poetic\, terrifying\, gut-buster tour de force that tells the audience exactly what this show is going to be—a deconstructed retelling of the 1903 Iroquois Theatre Fire from the eyes of the artists who worked on “Mr. Bluebeard\,” the production that sent the theater up in flames—even while building the sense that this time fate may be averted\, we might see the second act\, and the victims of that fire could be saved. \nDirected by Artistic Director Amanda Berg Wilson\, The Catamounts bring their signature immersive approach to the work\, transforming the Carsen Theater into a shared environment where audience and performers exist together inside the story. The result is a theatrical experience that is playful\, unsettling\, and deeply communal—inviting us to imagine what it means to care for one another in the dark. \nSunday performances on February 1\, 14\, and 21 will be followed by a community gathering. Tickets include food and drink\, with options available for those with and without dietary restrictions. \nTo donate to The Catamounts please visit https://www.coloradogives.org/organization/TheCatamounts

SUMMARY:Life: A Delightful Show About Fear and Grief

With humor and heart\, this show offers a fresh lens on these timeless and difficult emotions. \nFear and grief are not just inevitable — they are sacred rites of passage. A catalyst for transformation and resilience. And they belong to all of us. This performance invites you into that shared space and encourages a path toward healing. Topics include addiction\, loss\, love\, health\, dementia\, and more. Join us and experience the power of connection\, compassion\, and community. \n“So many beautiful moments; they had the full attention of every single individual lucky enough to have been there to experience greatness in writing\, character\, and humility.” – Suzanne D. \n”The show was nothing like I’ve seen before. There was laughter\, joy\, and tears at different times and each artist had a unique style of delivery that made the show engaging\, real\, and raw. Thank you for putting your heartfelt stories out there.”– Leah D. \n“Your performance was awe-inspiring. The entire performance of the 3 of you was one of the most moving emotionally I have ever experienced. From the depths of sorrow to the heights of laugher it flowed seamlessly and effortlessly. Ya’ll had the audience every second. Not a dry eye in the room. Brilliantly organized and choreographed. Your ending with the message of hope and love was more than perfect. Wow\, I’m still enthralled.” – Bruce M. \nPerforming: Katie Mason\, Elaina McMillan\, Andrea Sodergren \nAndrea Sodergren is a head strong powerhouse. Her drive for success is indisputable as evidenced by winning athletic competitions\, conquering businesses\, and jet-setting across the country for her wildly successful stand-up show\, Moms Unhinged. But once she finally slows down and gets quiet\, the emotions begin to flow. Deep love pours through as she remembers her late father\, navigates post-divorce dating\, and embraces empty nesting. This show has helped Andrea find her tender side allowing her to practice strengthening her softness and vulnerability. \nElaina McMillan is all heart. The kind of fluttering\, optimistic\, sweet heart typically found in the innocence of a child. This heart is her blessing to this world and her challenge to face\, as she unfolds into the fear and grief associated with slowly losing her mother to Alzheimer’s\, navigating her son’s fentanyl addiction\, and facing the new reality of a chronic illness. How can this hypnotist\, belief coach\, and comic make peace with pain when her tendency is to move away from it? Hear her journey as Elaina deepens in the trust that she can be with ALL of life and still keep her sweet heart open. \nKatie Mason IS soul. She infuses depth and intention into everything she does because she cannot be any other way. As a Poet Laureate and psychotherapist\, Katie embodies a commitment to both spiritual and personal growth. When she shares herself\, she brings a courageous openness to grief along with a grounded\, authentic presence. Her gift to this show is to create space for others to explore and embrace their own truth as she shares hers.

SUMMARY:Daughtering | Mar 14-22
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nIn “Daughtering\,” three generations of women navigate living\, dying and the dead when they are called home to appease unruly spirits. Sixteen to seventy-something\, each carries her own idea of what it means to be a daughter: caregiver\, rebel\, keeper of the stories\, breaker of the cycle. Over the course of three charged days and nights\, the daughters navigate relationship\, grief\, and the business of the old house that contains them\, alive in its own way with memory and an impressive population of mice. What unfolds is a darkly humorous\, emotionally resonant exploration of identity\, inheritance and the universal work of becoming who we are\, despite (and because of) where we come from. The play culminates in DIY ceremony and catharsis – as tender\, fierce and complicated as daughtering itself.

SUMMARY:Local Theater Company Local Listens: Queer Lineage play readings
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nJoin us for staged readings of two new short plays inspired by the stories of LGBTQ+ Coloradans across generations. This event marks the culmination of our season-long project\, Local Listens: Queer Lineage. Tickets are pay-what-you-will. All are welcome! \nThroughout the season\, Local Theater Company brought together LGBTQ+ community members\, ages 19 to 92\, in facilitated story circles. These stories inspired the two 45-minute plays written by Steven J. Burge\, Julie Rada and Miriam Suzanne. \nFollowing the performances\, we invite you to stay for a facilitated conversation about the plays — an opportunity to reflect\, respond\, and continue the dialogue together. \nLearn more about the project and hear selected stories on our website. \nLocal Listens: Queer Lineage is supported in part by the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation\, the Alex Wilson Fund and Cassandra Simon. \nABOUT THE PROJECT\nLocal Listens is a community-inspired new play initiative that focuses on a single social issue for one year. In an increasingly-digital world\, Local Listens intentionally gathers community members in a room\, face-to-face\, for important\, informative\, and illuminating conversations. These story circles\, held at the beginning of every season\, inspire short plays that are presented at the conclusion of the season. In order to enrich the experience for you\, our audience\, throughout the season we showcase a traveling portrait gallery featuring story circle participants. Each portrait is accompanied with an audio recording of a story the subject shared. Listen to these stories and discover the humans behind these complex issues. A resource guide is provided\, offering unbiased context. \nResearch shows that people understand\, remember\, and act on complex social issues more effectively when they are conveyed through lived experience rather than abstract data. Stories increase empathy\, reduce resistance to difficult topics\, and foster shared understanding across differences making them a powerful tool for civic dialogue and social change. \nLocal Listens seeks to build bridges across the chasm of community divides.

SUMMARY:13 Fires | June 24 - 26
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nA powerful new community theater production\, 13 Fires\, will bring the story of one of America’s great Black cultural districts to the stage in Boulder this season in celebration of Juneteenth. The play tells the story of Indiana Avenue in Indianapolis—once a thriving Black neighborhood filled with jazz clubs\, Black-owned businesses and the pioneering entrepreneur Madam C. J. Walker\, and legendary performers such as Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington. \nThen the neighborhood was almost completely wiped out. \n13 Fires explores how Indiana Avenue was dismantled during the expansion of Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis\, when property acquisitions\, eminent domain threats\, redlining\, and rising taxes forced families out of the homes and community they had built. Through intimate storytelling and memories of the Avenue’s golden era\, the play confronts the human cost of development and displacement. \nWhile the story unfolds in Indianapolis\, the production speaks directly to ongoing conversations about housing\, belonging\, and community change in Boulder and across Colorado. \nPresented during the Juneteenth season\, 13 Fires is a moving reflection on culture\, displacement\, and the enduring spirit of a people determined to keep their stories alive.

SUMMARY:Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company (BETC): Witch
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nThe devil arrives in a small village to recruit souls\, and business has never been better. Everyone is scrambling to bargain for something. SUMMARY:Motus Theater Presents: No Contract by Kirsten Wilson
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\n \n“No Contract” is a one-woman show exploring a mother’s request not to endure dementia. It asks: “is there a way to have dementia without tragedy\, when ‘to be or not to be’ is always the question?” \nCreated by Kirsten Wilson in honor of her mother and loved ones everywhere\, experiencing or caring for people with dementia. \n“No Contract” is a one-woman show by Kirsten Wilson about her mother’s dementia –Marie Wilson\, founder of ‘Take Our Daughters to Work Day\,’ LGBTQ+ leader\, author\, and equity-based feminist. \nThe dramatic ‘contract’ at the heart of this two-act performance is her mother’s request to be killed if she loses her mind. The production blends autobiographical storytelling\, “Hamlet\,” “King Lear\,” karaoke\, and audience engagement to explore the complex tension between choosing life and death—the “to be and not to be” of assisted suicide after a dementia diagnosis. \nIn “No Contract\,” Wilson uses humor & heart to prevent both the performance & her mother’s life from becoming a Lear-like tragedy. As Wilson says in Act One\, “My mother’s life was always supposed to be a romantic comedy\, a 1950’s musical\, except with lesbians dancing in the street. I will not let it turn toward tragedy.” \n*Note Wednesday\, 9/30/26 is a show for immunocompromised people. This show provides the following: Audience capacity is at 30% to provide space for two empty seats between audience members. KN95 masks must be worn by performers and audience members. Air filtration used. 6 feet of space between performers and front row. 6pm performance. See separate Dairy ticketing page to signup. \n**Note Saturday\, 10/3/26 is an all-day workshop and performance: \nSaturday\, Oct. 3rd\, “No Contract” Dementia\, Reflection and Writing Workshop with Kirsten Wilson. Take a day-long deep dive into the impact of caring for family members with dementia or negotiating your own fears of losing your mind with celebrated facilitator and artist Kirsten Wilson. This is an opportunity to gather in community to use the performance to launch your own reflections and writings on the impact of dementia and fears associated with aging. The morning will begin with a performance of Act I\, followed by personal reflections\, writing and discussion on dementia. After a shared lunch within small reflections groups\, a performance of Act II\, with a facilitated dialogue\, writing exercises and reflections. No skill as a writer necessary\, just willingness to courageously explore caregiving\, our mortality\, and dementia in community. (Lunch included in workshop fee). See separate ticketing page to sign up. \n  \n
