SUMMARY:Two Pianos
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nJuly 8-11 \nAfter years of exile\, Mathias Vogler returns to  France. His former mentor\, Eléna\, invites him to perform a series of piano concerts with her at the Auditorium de Lyon. But soon after his arrival\, a chance encounter with a child who looks just like him\, throws Mathias into turmoil\, threatening to drag him down\, and leads him back to Claude: his first love. (Arnaud Desplechin\, 2025\, France\, 1:55\, NR) \nTALKBACK JULY 8 WITH MIMI MORTIMER\nMimi is a retired professor of French and francophone literature (literature of Africa and the Caribbean) at the University of Colorado. She spends every Spring in France\, April through the end of June\, in France\, mostly in Paris. When in Paris\, she goes to films\, concerts\, and the theater. In retirement\, Mimi is still writing articles and book reviews as well as doing translations from French to English in her field. She is currently working on a translation and accompanying essay on a French-Algerian writer\, Leïla Sebbar\, who published a work of auto fiction a few years ago\, “Letter to my father.” in which she imagines a conversation with her dead father in large part critical of the fact that he did not bring his four children into his cultural realm\, never teaching them the Arabic language or introducing them to Algeria’s cultural traditions. \n  \n\n
