SUMMARY:Dark Night of the Soul: Cinema and Transcendence presented by Suranjan Ganguly: Pickpocket
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nMichel passes the time by picking pockets\, careful to never be caught despite being watched by the police\, while he grows closer to a woman who may provide the key to his redemption. Inspired by the novel “Crime and Punishment\,” its themes of sin and guilt lead toward deeper spiritual yearning. (Robert Bresson\, 1959\, France\, 1:16\, NR) \nThis film is part of a six-part European film series\, presented by Suranjan Ganguly\, focuses on the search for spiritual transcendence by people who struggle with faith\, conscience\, loss and grief. It seeks to define a cinema of interiority in which the subtle nuances of one’s inner life find poetic expression. \nCU Professor Emeritus Suranjan Ganguly of the Cinema Studies Department teaches a wide range of international film courses. Former chair of the department and director of the Stan Brakhage Center for Media Arts\, he is the founder and curator of the monthly Brakhage Film Series\, Celebrating Stan.

SUMMARY:South Park: Bigger\, Longer & Uncut
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nBefore they owned Casa Bonita restaurant\, Matt Stone and Trey Parker were film students at CU-Boulder where they came up with the silly voices and foul-mouthed kid characters that would eventually become the long-running TV show. SUMMARY:Everyone Is Lying to You for Money
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nJuly 8-11 \nIn Everyone Is Lying to You for Money\, actor and author Ben McKenzie turns investigator\, pulling back the curtain on the cryptocurrency industry and the culture of hype\, misinformation\, and speculation that fueled its explosive rise. What began as a promise of financial freedom has evolved into a volatile ecosystem rife with fraud and reckless gambling\, carrying with it devastating consequences for everyday people. \nThrough firsthand reporting\, expert interviews\, and a clear-eyed examination of major collapses and scandals\, the film traces how crypto became one of the most aggressively marketed financial products of the modern era—and how warning signs were ignored\, dismissed\, or deliberately obscured. As fortunes are made and lost\, Everyone Is Lying to You for Money asks a sobering question: who benefits from the chaos\, and who is left to clean up the damage? Accessible\, urgent\, and often darkly ironic\, the film is both a cautionary tale and a call for accountability—cutting through the noise to expose a system built on speculation\, influence\, and belief rather than truth. (Ben McKenzie\, 2025\, USA\, 1:30\, NR) \n\n  \n

SUMMARY:The Regulars
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nJuly 13-16 \nOn the edge of Chinatown stands the only independent cinema left in Central London. Grey and black\, dotted with poster frames\, and lit by an overhanging readograph\, its presence is tucked away from the other\,  brighter multiplexes of Leicester Square. There\, within its small interior\, a team of ushers push through the day. Based on the real-life experiences and stories from those that work at the Prince Charles Cinema\, Fil Freitas – a former usher turned manager himself – has put together a feature length comedy drama that explores life behind the counter. (Fil Freitas\, 2025\, UK\, 1:45\, NR) \n
