Join us for “SOUND SCAPE,” a transformative abstract painting workshop led by abstract painter Laura Brenton and accompanied by live music from cellist Louis Saxton. This immersive experience merges the visual and auditory arts, encouraging participants to create artwork inspired by live cello performances.
During this three-hour workshop, you’ll explore how sound can inspire color, form, and movement on canvas. Through collaborative group work and individual projects, you’ll engage in improvisational painting sessions, guided by the expressive power of music. The workshop will also include ice-breaker warmups and painting techniques to help you connect deeply with both the music and your creative instincts.
Whether you’re an experienced painter or new to the canvas, this workshop welcomes all skill levels. Participants will leave with a collaborative piece as well as a personal canvas work, all materials included in ticket price. Come immerse yourself in this fusion of art and music!

Materials Provided:
All painting supplies, including canvas, paper, paints, and brushes, are included. You’re also welcome to bring your favorite materials or a journal to document your creative journey.

Laura Brenton

Laura Brenton is an an abstract painter whose work is deeply influenced by her background in dance, capturing movement and emotion on canvas. Using a variety of tools — from fingers to squeegees, Laura dances the paint around the canvas. Her use of bold, vibrant color evokes both energy and stillness, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in their own creative interpretations. Brenton’s art has appeared in notable publications like Denver Life Magazine, Canvas Rebel, and Travel Boulder, and she is featured in the book Creative Sanity. Her paintings have been showcased internationally and throughout Colorado.
Louis Saxton
he/him/his
Louis Saxton is an emerging cellist and music educator based in Boulder, Colorado. A recent graduate from the University of Colorado Boulder with a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance, Louis specializes in chamber music and solo performance. They have received multiple awards, including the prestigious Presser Scholar and Outstanding Graduating Senior awards from CU Boulder. Louis has performed with renowned ensembles, sharing their love of music with diverse audiences. In addition to performing, Louis teaches private cello lessons, enjoys being outside while gardening and landscaping, baking sourdough, and running his own small business.
