ABOUT THE BANDS:

Felonius Smith Duo
Felonius Smith performs prewar blues music at its most authentic – taking us back to a time when original bluesmen were pioneering a new musical style. Drawing his inspiration from the songs and styles of artists like Tampa Red and Fred McDowell, Felonius Smith’s National slide and snappy finger-picking guitar style transports one back some 80 years, relaxing on a river bank in southern Mississippi.

Deborah Stafford and the Night Stalkers
Deborah has been a staple of the Colorado Blues scene for a couple of decades. In 2021 she put together The Night Stalkers to go to Memphis for the International Blues Challenge. Playing original R&B. Blues, Soul, Funk & Roots Rock, their horn-driven grooves will get you shakin’ it. This band is Hot! Their award-winning horn section, hot guitar licks by Jeff Bowen, soulful keyboards by Tone Show, and the smoldering vocals of Deborah take this band to the next level. In May 2022 they made it to the semi-finals of The International Blues Challenge in Memphis and opened The Trinidaddio Blues Festival in August 2022 to rave reviews. They have now won the CBS Blues Challenge for the second year in a row and have just returned from Memphis and the 2023 IBC.

Cary Morin and Ghost Dog
Described as “one of the best acoustic pickers on the scene today,” Cary Morin brings together the great musical traditions of America like no other. With deft fingerstyle guitar and vocals that alternately convey melodic elation and gritty world-weariness, Morin crafts an inimitable style often characterized as roots-infused Native Americana with hints of bluegrass, folk, blues, and rock. He has performed at renowned venues across the globe, including the Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center, and is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades.

Lionel Young Trio
Lionel Young is a high-energy performer with a bent for the blues. His Lionel Young Band, winners of numerous awards for best in and around the Colorado region, have won the 2011 International Blues Challenge (IBC) band competition. Added to his victory at the 2008 IBC in the solo-duo category, that makes Lionel Young the first double champion in the history of the IBC. Fans of the driven, classically trained Young love his distinctive brand of blues on the electric violin. His show features not only Young originals but interpretations of blues classics by Willie Dixon, Leadbelly and Stevie Ray Vaughan, along with the strength and passion of Young’s playing, his smooth vocals and unique translations.
