Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, a Journey, a Song

November 3 @ 6:30 pm

Thursday, Nov. 3, 6:30 pm in the Gordon Gamm Theater – In this stirring, soulful tribute to Cohen’s lifelong quest for truth and beauty, married directors Daniel Geller and Dayna Goldfine view the venerated singer-songwriter’s life and legacy through the prism of his internationally renowned hymn. Approved by Leonard Cohen before his 80th birthday in 2015, the film accesses a treasure trove of never-before-seen material from the Cohen Trust. By focusing on the remarkable trajectory of one iconic song – a prayer set to music that was initially rejected by Columbia records – the directors convey the intricacies of the artist, poet, sage, philosopher, spiritual seeker, storyteller, consummate performer, ladies’ man, practicing Buddhist, and deeply committed Jew.
