Contemplation Exhibition –November 5, 2021 – January 7, 2022

Keith Brenner – Diptych: Stories between the borders & around the edges
Diptychs are two pictures telling one story…perhaps more. They are in a relationship offering a narrative that neither photograph can tell on its own. Stories are found between the border and around the edges. The dual images invite contemplation, interpretation, intrigue, confusion, and an intrinsic connection, though their reality is separated by space and time.
Diptychs are a labor of love. An irrational amount of time is spent looking for relationships between two photographs. Usually, one photo is stronger than the other and is looking for a conversation or a mate. Sometimes one sees the beginning of a connection but not the whole story. It takes time to understand what your imagination is teasing before it makes its way into the rational side of the mind. When it does, the diptych is complete.
I have worked with a single photo for years trying to find his or her mate. Other times, they reveal their relationship quickly. The digital view doesn’t’ always work well-finding relationships, so I make lots of prints and let them lie still tossed. The few that remain tell my story.
What is your story, what do you see?
We visualize things differently and I want to know your stories. This is an interactive exhibit. Let me know what you see, what runs through your imagination.
Please share your point of view!
Simply write your description of one or two diptychs on sheets from the pad provided. Add your name and email address, when completed, drop them in the red box. The plan is to share them in ZOOM CALL (or in person at the Dairy….) during the last week of the exhibit and include some in a forthcoming book. If yours is chosen, you will receive a signed copy form the artist. Use your imagination.

Belgin Yucelen – Floating Tales
Floating Tales challenge imaginations by creating a fictional world beyond the existing, to conjure unrealized possibilities.

Belgin Yucelen – Overwritten Scripts
Overwritten Scripts emphasize the inequality that exists based on socio-cultural norms rather than Islamic principles, which regard men and women as equal in humanity.

Natasha Mistry – Contemplation
In her recent series of circular, mica-infused oil paintings, artist Natasha Mistry explores symbols that she sees during meditation. She paints gently, building shape upon pattern, her geometric precision and the iridescence of her natural materials creating a transcendent viewing experience. Natasha’s symbols evoke a sense of timelessness, acting as a visual reminder to our primal selves. Each painting is an invitation to gaze and enjoy a moment of peace.
