Boulder Ballet’s annual contemporary ballet/theater production is an increasingly popular event. Always an engaging mix of styles and the excitement of world premieres. This season’s concert On the Move will feature new works by Peter Davison and Lance Hardin, with original music scores by Jesse Manno and Michael Schulze.

NOTE: Performances Feb 19 – 21 are held in Boulder at The Dairy Center for the Arts. Performances on Feb 27 & 28 are held at The Pinnacle Performing Arts Complex in Denver. Tickets for the Denver shows will be available online or by phone until Friday, Feb 26, at 12 noon. After that time, tickets must be purchased in person at The Pinnacle on show nights.

Richard II, written around 1595, is the first play in William Shakespeare’s second “history tetralogy,” a series of four plays that chronicles the rise of the house of Lancaster to the British throne. Its sequel plays are Henry IV, Parts 1 & 2, and Henry V. Richard II, set around 1398, traces the fall from power of the last king of the house of Plantagenet, Richard II, and his replacement by the first Lancaster king, Henry IV.

KGNU Independent Community Radio presents a special screening of the critically-acclaimed and award-winning documentary The Cove. Produced by Boulder’s own Oceanic Preservation Society, this inspiring film details the horrific dolphin capture and kill in Taijii, Japan and the filmmakers’ cloak-and-dagger efforts to document the fishermen’s clandestine activities. A unique opportunity to participate in a Q & A panel session with members of the cast and crew will follow the film. This event will benefit KGNU. Recommended for ages 13+.

It is the second film from Andrew Shapter, director of the critically acclaimed documentary, Before The Music Dies. The film journeys through history, without boundaries or prejudices, in an attempt to understand what Happiness truly is. Q & A session follows the screening.

This special screening of HAPPINESS IS benefits the Colorado Coalition to End Hunger.

Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad is a refreshing mix of comedy, music, spoken-word and show-stopping burlesque told by the gals who learned to smoke at Hebrew School, got drunk at their Bat-Mitzvahs and would rather have more schtuppa than the chupah. The show features performers seen on Comedy Central, HBO and Network TV. These badass chosen chicks boldly dare to deconstruct years of tradition, expectations and guilt in a fast-paced vaudeville extravaganza. This ain’t yo’ mama’s Fiddler!

Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad features the booty-shaking burlesque stylings of Sister Schmaltz and the queen of quick change, The Goddess Perlman. They will be touring the Colorado Rockies with the boys of Good For the Jews, as they celebrate Jewish traditions and history with unorthodox, irreverent and hilarious songs. You don’t have to be Jewish to love these broads.


Front Range Hippotherapy & Autism Society of Boulder County

Front Range Hippotherapy, together with the Autism Society of Boulder County, present this very special one night event. How far would you travel to heal someone you love?

The Horse Boy is an independent film directed by Michel Orion Scott. It tells the story of a Texas family that takes a spiritual journey through Outer Mongolia in an attempt to find healing for their son, Rowan. Rowan’s father Rupert Isaacson, a writer and former horse trainer, along with his wife Kristin Neff, a psychology professor, accompany Rowan on an extraordinary journey that eventually will change all their lives.

A panel discussion addressing autism and the benefits of hippotherapy, and a Q & A session follow the film. All proceeds will benefit Front Range Hippotherapy. View movie trailer.

A Night of Improvisational Theatre (ON SALE SOON!)

Playback Theatre West is improvisational, “comicathartic” theatre based on using the audience’s stories to entertain, enrich and enlighten. An audience member shares a story or experience from their life and the actors “play it back” capturing the essence of their experience. The result is improvisational theatre that is not only entertaining, but also moving and powerful.

Storybook Ballet: Pepito’s Story (Buy Now)

Storybook Ballet is danced by the students of Boulder Ballet School. This year’s production is Pepito’s Story, based on the book by Eugene Fern, and featuring choreography by Ana Claire Davison and music by Victoria Ebel-Sabo. With a colorful Spanish seaside village, a pompous mayor, his beautiful daughter and a boy who loves to dance – Pepito’s Story is a tale of true friendship.

The Rita Fund

Pray The Devil Back To Hell (Buy Now)

Join us for the Colorado launch of The Rita Fund as it presents Pray the Devil Back to Hell, a film by Abigail Disney and Gini Reticker. The film tells the gripping account of a group of brave women who demanded peace for Liberia, a nation torn to shreds by a decades-long civil war. A story of sacrifice, unity and transcendence, Pray the Devil Back to Hell honors the strength and perseverance of the women of Liberia. Inspiring, uplifting, and most of all motivating, it is a compelling testimony to how grassroots activism can alter the history of nations.

Proceeds from this event will be used to support women’s human rights activism.

A wine & cheese reception is scheduled for 6 pm in the MacMillan Family Lobby prior to the screening.
